When, exactly, was this "used to be" age of Utopia where top fighters fought and money didn't matter?

  3. Must have been when Don King was having fights in Africa for the good of the African people and not tax purposes...

If you mop the floors at Popeye's for glory and legendary status, fighters go in there and risk their lives for money. No one is working for free and fighters sure as hell won't.

I'm not against these guys getting the most they can out of the sport, but the "put their life on line" stuff applies to so many more occupations than that of a professional prize fighter... Just throwing that out there..

    OP doesn't know his history.

Money has been the primary factor in all fights being made, ever.

If every fighter fought better comp, you fools would still be whining about them not fighting different better comp.

Don't bother getting involved with what doesn't happen. Otherwise your boxing experience will be highly skewed and unpleasant.

When I was a kid the Heavyweight Champion of the World was the supreme athlete. This title meant something. Todays so called HW champ cannot draw a crowd to save his life. He cannot even sell a PPV lol
$$$$$$$$ ruins all sport I many so called fans seem to like that. They call Mayweather an ATG & TBE . ROFL When asked why they say look how much money he's got . THe fact he's been mollycoddled & protected all career long & it now seems highly probable he's been a Ped's abuser too all along. If so he's a disgrace not an ATG
