Right behind Tiger, Money is # 2 for 2007 as far as paid athletes are concern...Money is ahead of the pack and is quickly turning into De La Hoya as far as megastar crossover appeal. Not confirmed yet but the story going around is that the PPV did 1.5 million buys I know alot of the true boxing fans want Money to fight MArgarito, Williams & Cintron but he's not going to do that because there no money with them. If he fights nexts, it going to be Cotto because that a HUGE payday for him. Money is boxing right now...period!!!
I doubt that....Money doesn't have a leech like Don King as a promoter plus he has Al Haymon...the manager for stars like Angelina Jolie, Lebron James, Tyra Banks, etc... If Oscar can save his money, then Money can too. Money isn't on coke either and has outside business ventures, Tyson had no venture but boxing.
I have to say I'm quite shocked how big Mayweather has gotten. If this fight did over 1 million buys in the US, that is saying a lot, because Hatton was not very well known at all going into this promotion, so most of those buys are coming off of Mayweather's name and any exposure Ricky got from 24/7. I'd imagine Mayweather/Cotto could also do over 1 million buys, since Cotto is already a bigger name in the US than Hatton was going into the promotion. It's hard to believe that any non-heavyweight, non-DLH fighter, is doing these kinds of numbers. I wonder how much of it has to do with the brilliant 24/7 show?? Also, I wonder how many buys a Hopkins/Calzaghe fight could do with a 24/7. I mean, with Hopkins personality, and Calzaghe's nice guy persona, it would make for yet another intriguing clash of personalities and high drama. I could see that fight doing 700 to 800 000 buys with the right promotion in the US. In England, that fight could potential baloon into being as big as Hatton/Mayweather, especially now seeing as Calzaghe won BBC sportsman of the year in a big upset.
Money made 50 mill this year, appear on almost all the radio and talk sow including Leno, had 24/7, dancing w Star...is set to so a movie next year. Has his own Sneaker coing out with Nike. His own promotional boxing company and 2nd back to back PPV doing over 1 million buys (even Oscar hasn't done that). Money is the new golden Boy of boxing.
Hopefully huh? Well like I always tell you guys. Hope in one hand in **** in the other one. Watch which one fills up first. Those days are over. Floyd Mayweather's net worth was estimated at over 150 Million dollars before this fight. There won't be a broke Mayweather for a long time. His money makes money, his image makes money, and his friend 50 cent has a net worth estimated at 500 Million dollars. It;s over forget about this one let it go. Hey cheer up. At least Mike Tyson has drug problems right? You cant win em all
Same here. I thought the whole "Money May" thing was just some bull**** he said to himself around his buddies. Turns it out it's a full blown moniker! :rofl
If you include the money Oscar made off his promoting this year, there is no way Mayweather banked more in 2007. According to SI, Oscar made $50 million alone off his fight purse for that fight and whatever endorsements he had. They didn't include how much money he made as the promoter of Pacqiao/Barrera, Cotto/Mosley, and Hatton/Mayweather. Oscar could very well have come close to clearing $100 million in 2007.
