First off, i gotta give props to Cotto(e) i definately underestimated the dude. he fought his heart out. i felt he won more rounds than the scorecards suggests but came up short. that being said, he brought out the toughness in Floyd. i definately think Floyd shouldnt continue fighting @ 154 tho, he looked sluggish, slower, and not sharp as his usual self. could be age catching up to him and he is definately past his best. but damn what a fight. i like seeing him tested and getting thru rough fights like that.

cotto deserves (and is getting) a ton of credit for how he fought - and lost.

Mayweather deserves even more for how HE fought - and WON.

I agree it was a great fight although I think he should stay at 154 where their is more competition. Cotto fought his heart out their is no reason for him to feel so down on the Lose to Mayweather, he gave a great fight and pushed Mayweather.

If cotto had just a little more gas in him he would have won. He was starting to take over but couldn't hang on

That he definitely did. Much props to cotto. Floyd just demonstrated why his particular style is so nasty, a defensive warrior who gives better than he gets.

I don't think he was off at all. He was just looking to slug it out with Cotto at times and got caught. It reminds me of the time when Floyd fought Corley. Floyd gets hit the most when he thinks he can outbrawl a brawler. Whenever Floyd chose to box Cotto and stay on the outside it looked ridiculously easy for him.

Mayweather didn't even look that off to me. He just fought Cotto's fight and wanted to go toe to toe. That is all there is to it. When Floyd gave movement and jab to the body and back up top it was easy. He chose to go to the ropes when he didn't have to. Could have just circled out and boxed. It was a great fight and a great card all around.

I really liked the fact that Floyd made peace with Larry and HBO for the most part. Great night and much respect to Cotto. Cotto has one of the best jabs in the game too.

He Proved His Adjustment Skills, and Also that His speed is still there. Cotto has aggression that was EFFECTIVE, but he could NOT his Mayweather, it was similar to Oscar's Fight, Throwing punches that just get shoulder rolled off, the fans love that ****. You will be able to tell a Casual from a Boxing Fan from the opinions of this fight.

    10-2 Mayweather.

Good thread. . . Cotto ALMOST. . . ALMOST brought the very best out of Floyd. . .

I didn't know he had it in him to throw a 5 punch combination! Damn he let them hands FLY during the last two rounds too. . . Blistering fast lead uppercut/straight right hand. . . Never seen Floyd throw combinations like that. . .

I honestly don't think EITHER fighter is best above 147. . Cotto looked tired as hell mid to late rounds, and Floyd's reflexes looked SLIGHTLY off - but still feline. . .

I was surprised at how Cotto was able to box wtih Floyd in the center of the ring - I honestly thought he did just as good there, as he did on the ropes where Floyd was rolling, catching, and blocking, then countering with clean shots. . .

Pretty good fight overall. . Pretty much how I expected on the ropes, but didn't expect Cotto to snap that head back in the center of hte ring iwth hte jab so many times.

Why do you think the judges and Letterman gave Cotto 3 straight rounds? Floyd was busted up, bleeding from the nose and mouth and getting tagged alot during those rounds. Even letterman said he couldn't understand why Cotto at the ninth round stopped fighting. He had just won 3 straight rounds and was almost even with Floyd. Floyd was the one shutting down and not throwing alot because Cotto was all over him. Cotto was breathing very heavy in his corner and started gassing out.

Get real. You *****'s are fukin ******ed. Cotto had Floyd shitting his pants. Floyd was embarassed as fuk sitting with blood all over his face and you can tell his whole corner was concerned. Even his wife looked was worried which you never see. LOL

Your right he did choose to go toe to toe which is probably why he kept saying he wanted to give the fans what they wanted to see in the interview. Cuz Cotto had no answer for that sweeping right and yet Mayweather stop using it until he wanted to secure the win in the 12 rd.

Cotto was getting the better of Mayweather on the inside though which was supprising. And elevates the level which you have to hold Cotto's inside fighting game.
