Floyd says whatever is convenient for him each time, and each time he contradicts himself.

he is done. reflexes are not what they used to be. He ducks power fighters who are true welters and in top notch condition.

Bob Arum was ready for Margarito to face him, Antonio called him out to his face. Kosta Tszyu not promoted by Arum but Frank Warren.

Floyd fans believe whatever is convenient but the math is impossible to overcome.

It can't be chance that Cotto, Margarito, Tszu and Pacquiao all had the same 3 things in common when ducked. POWER, WELTERS, CONDITIONING (Not past prime)

The odds of not facing even one of those and never facing a Welter with those qualities is impossible unless you are avoiding that style of fighter.

arum has basicly all the good fighters, so obviously he ducked them. would cotto have been under don king, fans would still have said he ducked cotto. promotion company doesnt mean something.

 

Because you have to bend over when negotiating with Arum. The terms not only have to be right for the fighters, they have to be right for Arum. I remember reading something back in the day about a deal Floyd had to fight Cotto that fell through because Arum and Floyd were not in agreement on the money, and more provocative options for Mayweather were on the horizon(ie: the DeLaHoya which Arum did not want to make happen for Floyd). Sure Floyd could just take whatever Arum is willing to offer, but negotiations don't work that way.

Additionally, I have argued in the past and present that Arum is a main reason some of these big fights don't happen. If you look from the past, when Floyd was with Arum and calling out fighters, till now from Juanma and Gamboa to Pacquiao, a lot of fights that the people want to see haven't/don't happen with people under that umbrella. Who has Pacquiao fought in the last 4 years that were NOT under Top Rank or were not independent? This guy doesn't seem to want or be able to make fights with other promoters. Thinking business-wise it makes sense that a promoter be selective with the opponents of his cash cows and do as much as possible in-house. He's working Pacquiao like a racehorse right now(2 fights a year) and probably funding his retirement off this guy alone.

here's another juicy obvious tidbit. pac fights co promoted with golden boy...golden boy keeps books and screws top rank. part of one of the reasons theres a top rank golden boy war.

I NEVER wanted him to fight Mosley. Not because it was a pathetic fight, but because I knew exactly how the fight with old Shane was going to go. Shane Mosley, even in his prime would follow counter punchers around and only throw one punch at a time... I knew that Mosley would just end up following Mayweather around the ring, getting tagged and seldomly throwing punches. I said it beforehand, and it's exactly what happened. People were NOT begging for this fight. However, it was definitely not a horrible fight for Mayweather to take. Simply because it would be big off the heels of Mosley vs Margo. However, every fan with brain new that Mosley could never have that kind of free swinging success against Mayweather.

You keep talking about match-ups with Mayweather against old fighters who were clearly past their prime. I am talking about the actual toughest challengers out there for him to fight. Mayweather choosing the less threatening, past prime, big name fighters is exactly the problem being discussed. Us boxing fans wanted to see the #1 pd 4 pd fighter in the world up against the tough prime challengers out there.
