it doesn't matter what these sportswriters think because it is only their opinion. but the fact is this, nobody in boxing is better than mayweather jr. and that includes pacquiao. if these two ever fight, mayweather jr. is going to destroy pacquiao easily!

The runners resume isn't that great though. I will admit that he has great ability. But ATG or P4P #1 he isn't at this point. I will also admit that if he beats the winner AND loser of Pac/Cotto, Mosley, and either PW or Margarito he will have my vote for top 20 ATG. He need to stop being a chicken**** and challenge himself. He said that he wants to fight 2 times a year. Well those 4 fights would cement his legacy and it would only take 2 years going by his fight time schedule. And he would make a SHITLOAD of jack doing it. **** or get off the pot !!!

These experts really are full of wisdom which ordinary mortals perhaps can never fathom. They gave too much credit to a welterweight boxer beating a lighweight boxer in a welterweight fight where the lightweight was outweighed by at least 12 lbs.:-(

JMM and Pac fought twice at about the same weight. Floyd enjoyed at least 12 lbs advantage over the already bloated JMM who was obviously slowed down by the excess weight.

Manny is a fighter that is easy to get emotional about but Floyd -emotions aside- is the truth.

Yeah, but the problem is that Floyd is eyeing Vic Darchinyan for his next fight, in which case, he could easily claim back the p4p title.

You are the same type that will make excuses for Pac should him and Floyd get it on. I'm sure you were the same one saying PAC would destroy him. Now that he's back you are changing your tune.

Floyd isn't #1 because he beat JMM, he's #1 because he unretired.

he was far and away the consensus #1 when he stepped away. That he was able to come back with little or no ring rust is enough to validate the top spot on my list.

Maybe, a 147 lb Floyd (at weigh-in) against a 138-140 lb Pac at an agreed catchweight of 144! A superfast, supertalented 140 lbr Floyd will lost, probably by KO to Pac at a LWW fight!

You're right there Buddy! Truly, the wisdom of those experts are too difficult to fathom! It surely looks idiotic to me but maybe I am wrong because they are the experts on the matter!:huh

Mayweather edged out Pacquiao by one point in a poll voted by American sports writers, one from Grand Rapids, Michigan (gee, I wonder who he voted for). Nice job Mayweather for outclassing that lightweight Marquez!

Maybe Pacquiao should call off the Cotto fight, box the ears off of lightweight Michael Katsidis (who also called out Pac) and regain his #1 spot.
