Money ranks @ 28-30 ATG, Manny 42-46

Mayweather is not higher than Manny? No way.. Who made this ranking? Not ring magazine.

 

Both need a fellow top 50 ATG great (i.e. each other) to propel themselves towards the top 30 or higher.

Without that, they'll struggle to have that significant win over a fellow 'elite' ATG.

Both have great wins against HOFers, but none of their wins come against guys in the top 50.

Fight each other, spring together another couple of good wins, and history will be very kind to Pac and Floyd (especially the winner, if they ever fought).

Currently I have Floyd higher, but both are floating around the 40-50 mark.

For Pac - fight (and win without controversy) Bradley, JMM 4, Floyd and another big fight (perhaps a legitimate 154 pound fight) - and he's RIGHT up there.

For Floyd - fight Cotto, Pac, and Martinez at 160 - and he'd be a top 20 guy without a shadow of a doubt.

 

Like it or not, it's split amongst fans and boxing writers/media/historians etc etc..

Your opinion is that Floyd is not higher...that's just your opinion though..in reality, it's arguable either way.

Split? I don't think so. Maybe reinforcing that makes Floyd fans feel better. Some evidence to counter those claims might be good validation for such a claim instead of repeating empty rhetoric.

I am floored by some of your guys' posts either some of you people are just thinking up a random number each time or have a really bad memory because its rarely consistent

 

Greb and Tunney fought each other 5 times, with the official score at 3-1-1 in Tunney's favour. Greb took the first, Tunney the second (although every newspaper report I have read said it was a robbery and Greb at the better of it.)

Having done a bit of research, I consider their series 3-2 Tunney, which I'd s great showing for Middleweight Greb

 

Time to re-evaluate Pac's resume and how his achievements compare to those in The Ring's Top 10 ATG list.

I don't put too much empathise on statistics. I mean, no boxing writer would really suggest Pacquiao is really an 8 division WORLD champion (ie the best at the weight in each division), even when we have more divisions to chose from.

Armstrong, for example, was a WORLD champion from Featherweight to Welter (he was robbed fighting the best Middleweight in the world also, so it's easy to include him at MW). That would mean he was the best fighter in 7 divisions, which is remarkable, and a much greater feat than Pacquiao's.

Take Bob Fitzsimmons also. He was the best in the world ranging from Middleweight to Heavyweight, a total of 5 divisions. Again, this has to be rated as such, yet isn't part of your list. Greb again, beating the best Welterweights (Walker) to Heavyweights (Tunney) of his era, a record spanning what, 7 divisions again.

 

both these guys' accomplishments put them in the top 40 for me quite easily. top 20? i dont think either of them can achieve that in this era, but anyody that puts dlh , mosley or trinidad above them is smoking crack. they wont get props for their true ranking til theyre both retired- and until they both fight each other. if pac beats floyd he ll get much more credit for it than floyd for beating pac. if pac beats floyd he ll go top 25 in most peoples books-whereas floyd will stay where he is- he seems to be underrated by most for various reasons

 

Not in d top 100 and whomever has him in his top 30 can't name 50 greats and there4 obviously doesn't have a top 100 . Pacquiao does rank higher than Mayweather , but I doubt if even he is in d top 30 .

 

When one factors in the consensus opinion that Mayweather is one of the three best at super featherweight, in addition to his lineal title snag at lightweight and pit stop at junior welter, plus his PPV days of dominance at welter and junior middle, while remembering Mayweather won Fighter of the Year and cracked Ring Magazine top 10 P4P in 1998. 14 years on the top of the P4P list. Mayweather almost certainly resides in the top 25. It's honestly tough to say a guy like Hagler, usually always a top 20 P4P guy most say, has a better resume or longevity than Floyd.
