Nah not really..it's just split...another poster even posted that S.I, ESPN, etc etc...have Floyd ranked higher. Floyd fights higher ranked opponents than Manny too.:deal
nope, not why at all..you should check the rankings of Floyd's opponents. You will find that he has only fought one non ranked opponent in the last 7 years.:deal Shouldn't post on **** you don't know anything about.:bart Check the rankings and then post.
ok, i'm not sure if you are serious (i dont think you are) So if you arent serious, stop reading here. If you are serious, keep reading.... Wlad has not fought many non-ranked opponents either, does that make him a top 10 p4p'er? Based on the 'non-ranked' opponents, Monzon's resume pisses over his (I think his title reign consisted mostly of guys ranking from 1-3, with only 1 guy outside the top 5 in the world). Fighters like Ortiz (a ranked opponent) was only ranked at Welter based on his fight with Berto (who many say is a HBO hype job). Nethertheless, I doubt he'd be rated as a top fighter in many other eras. The same applies for Gatti. Put simply, Floyd Mayweather cannot be rated that highly, because he hasnt thought great fighters to prove it
Ok, now go back and read....Ortiz was the 3rd rated fighter none the less...Mosley was ranked #3 in the world and Hatton #8...Marquez #2. Go show me where Wlad beat a top 10 lb fighter in the world:think...Wlad is also the victim of a very weak HW division and this is widely known. He is a top 50 atg by fans and media alike...he is rated "that highly." You may not like that he is, but he is. Berto was ranked #3 at WW when he got beat...Ortiz simply took his spot. So again, you can twist n turn those rankings how you want...whatever the case, they are top 3 in there division and/or top 10 in the world...Floyd don't rank em... Wlad has not beaten a top 10 in the world. Not to mention he has dominated each fighter as well.:deal Not to mention the 18 world champs he has beaten.:deal Not to mention that he is the GOAT at 130lbs.:deal He always gonna get hate, until he retires for at least 3-4 years...but for now it is what it is man....you trying to twist n turn rankings but your narrow viewed with it. Monzon is a top 25 in my book. Monzon did not take 7 titles in 5 different weight classes while staying undefeated and fighting TOP 10 WORLD OPPONENTS MORE THAN 5 TIMES. All due credit to Carlos, he is a top 25 atg. You helped my point there too, thanks.
Oh ****, you was serious Right, my point again. Ortiz would never be rated as the number 3 Welter in any other era. JMM was unranked at Welter. ****, he was unranked at light welter! Strength of an era is critical when making judgements. frazir is likely the 3rd best HW of the 70s (behind Ali and Foreman). Yet he is still in most people's top 10 Heavyweights. Why? because of the strenght of the opponents he beat. The 3rd best HW in this era (I dunno, Chageav for the most part?) would be nowhere near most people's top 30 heavyweights. Do you understand my point? I have Floyd as the best H2H force at 130, and he is in my top 50 (as already stated in this thread). But he doesnt crack my top 30 as there are simply too many great fighters who have proved their greatness by fighting the best opposition possible. Mayweather, for a large part of his Welterweight career, lost the 'urge' to box, and names like Cotto, Margo, Paul Williams and Pacquiao were ALL overlooked in favour of a holiday
I understand your point. I have no dissagreement with you then. Floyd is in my top 40. I respect your top 50 though. Floyd does not crack my top 30 either. Williams was never in position to fight Floyd..he was fighting on Floyd's undercard in 2006 and then lost to Quintana 15 months later. Margarito..c'mon bro...he is/was a proven cheat, and the point of Floyd leaving Top Rank was to face a much better Oscar De La Hoya. Margarito turned out to be a fake. You have a point in that he didn't fight Cotto in 2007 and instead fought Hatton. With that said, the fight would never have been made. Unfortuantely, corrupt promoters who sicken the sport, like Bob Arum would never have let his undefeated future cash cow anywhere near Floyd. Not to mention that Floyd was calling out Cotto, when they were both with Top Rank, and Cotto wanted no parts. Pacquiao consistently ducks Floyd. Why would any fighter refuse a drug test?:huh In a post Mark McGuire era in sports, in the United States, any other athlete would have received nothing but fire from the media had he refused a drug test..Pac ducked it for 2 years and then came up with the "next excuse" (after everyone said Floyd would come up with the "next excuse") and that "excuse" was "Marquez 4.":bart Again, Floyd fights top 3 in his division and/or top 10 in the world. He fought the #2 and #3 fighers in the world coming off a 19 month layoff.
After Cotto Pac universally recognised as Top 25, many had him top 20-15. Floyd on the other hand was 30-40. Pretty much everyone including *****'s ranked Pac higher. Fast forward to 2012, Floyd beats JMM and Mosley, Pac beats Clottey, Margo, Mosley and JMM and suddenly hes below Mayweather? lol. *****'s trying to re-write history again. If Floyd is considered by most as the greater fighter, tell me why Pac was crowned fighter of the decade?
PBF's inactively that's why, he's not a better fighter that's for damn sure. The same reason why Pac moved ahead of PBF in the P4P rankings. If PBF had stayed active he would have been named fighter of the decade and still be P4P #1.:deal
calling someone an idiot doesn't win the argument. Are you saying Floyd is the idiot for not fighting the better fighters which would have given him a legacy like Pacman has? Then I would agree with you. Don't blame me if Floyd does not have the legacy he could have. He handpicks and plays games and tries to wait until guys have a name but not skills anymore. So maybe he can fool people and fight everyone either above their weight and at weights they never fought at or when they have been knocked out already.
Then that's his fault isn't it? Floyd's a great fighter but there's only so much you can embellish with woulda coulda
