DLH - I'm calling it even. Oscar obviously had more success against Floyd but was completely past it against Manny. Mosley - Manny knocked him down for the first time in 10 years and had him running scared all night. Mosley got dominated in both fights but didn't win a single second against Pacquiao. Hatton - Manny damn near killed this man at his best weight. Marquez - Floyd dominated him completely. Most don't even feel Manny beat him. Cotto - Manny dominated most of the fight and stopped him. Cotto was competitive with Floyd throughout their bout. I've got Manny 3-1-1 over Money.
I think Manny outperformed Floyd with all common opponents except of course JMM Looking back, people gave little to no chance to Pac when he faced DHL, we need to take this into account too That said, I still think Floyd UD Pac
The Mosley that Mayweather fought, may well of been as erroded as the Mosley Pac fought, but atleast when he fought Mayweather he believed he was one of the best in the world.
Not only that, but, bar the rocky moments in round 2, I think he handled and outclassed Mosley far better, too. All Pac has is the knockdown.
You're clearly not taking into account where these fighters were when Floyd and Manny faced them. -When Floyd faced DLH, he was JMW champion (winning the title against Mayorga). Floyd faced him at a weight DLH was comfortable at. Oscar was past his prime, but not a shot fighter. When Manny faced DLH, Oscar was weight drained all the way to 145, DLH hadn't fought at 147 in 7 years! The last time he weighed in below 146 was in 1997! He was completely dead at the weight, and pretty much shot to ****. He retired after this fight. - When Floyd faced Mosley, Mosley was coming off his destruction of Margarito. Shane was considered the man at 147, and ranked the number 3 fighter in the world. Clearly Shane was past his prime, but he was considered a highly dangerous opponent. Floyd completely emasculated Shane When Manny faced Shane, he was coming off a loss to FM, and a draw to Sergio Mora. He clearly had no business fighting that night. Manny's camp turned down a fight with Shane after the Margarito win, Floyd took on Shane instead. - Hatton was undefeated, full of confidence and considered in his prime when he fought Floyd! Floyd KO'd him to take Ricky's '0'. After this, Hatton was lucky to get past a journeyman in Luzcano! When Manny faced Ricky, it's true that Ricky was the lineal 140 champ, and Manny did demolish him brutally. However, Ricky was having emotional problems, he was crying in camp, getting beaten up and floored in sparring by the likes of Lara, and he hadn't been the same since Floyd beat himl. I don't think Ricky was in a good state when Manny got to him. It's a good win no doubt, as Hatton was still lineal champ at 140, however it's telling that Ricky never fought again. - Floyd went up to 154 to face Cotto. Miguel is stronger at this weight, and had a good team around him, more importantly a proper trainer in Pedro Diaz I don't think Cotto was as drained as is made out, however against Pacquaio he practically trained himself, his corner was a shambles and he had no gameplan. However, to be fair, Pacquiao was sensational that night, briefly after that fight I genuinely thought Manny might be able to beat Floyd, he looked that good. I think Floyd fought a stronger version of Cotto, but Manny won more emphatically.
There is a huge difference between the mid 2007 154lbs title holding ODLH and the late 2008 147 lbs ODLH. That fight against Mayweather was the last time we saw anything like the prime ODLH
Hatton - equal credit. Floyd fought him first, at 147, and KO'd him in 10 after losing 1,2 rounds, and kinda having to dig pretty deep. . Pac fought him at his best weight, after a somewhat confidence builder over Malignaggi, and obliterated him in 2 rounds, literally putting the nail in his coffin. .. EVEN. Oscar - Floyd edge. Floyd fought him first, at 154, and pretty much outclassed him every round (save 2 or 3 rounds). .. It was KIND OF competitive in spurts, and Floyd got a lil puffy eye afterwards! When Pac fought him, he was very drained (term gets thrown around too much), fighiting him at a weight he hadn't fought at in years. But remember, Manny was coming up DIRECTLY from 135, and he was still like a 3:1 'dog. Completely dominated Oscar like he's NEVER came CLOSE to being before. STILL, SLIGHT EDGE FLOYD. Mosley - Slight edge Floyd. Despite the hype with hte Margarito win, Mosley was still pretty much the same Mosley we saw against Manny. . . No need to break down here, both at same weight, and both thoroughly dominated him about the same. pac had the KD, but Floyd made him look more foolish for majority of the fight. Since Floyd got him first, SLIGHT EDGE FLOYD. Marquez - Edge Floyd. Stylistic nightmare for Pac, and Mayweather is a stylistic nightmare for Marquez. Doesn't mean at all that "this proves how much better Floyd is", it just proves the old adage: "styles make fights" (yes, it is hackneyed, and cliched) Cotto - Edge Pacquiao. I don't want to hear anything about 145 "draining" Cotto. . The dude normally weighed in at 146. . Cotto Pac fought was faster, and I don't care who you are, anytime you take a one-sided beating like that over 12 rounds, getting over 350 punches landed on you, you're going to leave something in the ring. Cotto at 154 was a bit more heavy handed, but really didn't have much more stamina (thereby further proving he wasn't "drained" at 145). . . Pac got to him first, and beat him much worse. EDGE PACQUIAO
fmj did better vs JMM & Mosely. pac did better vs Hatton, DLH & Cotto. You could argue about `best versions` all day long but its speculation so you can only call the fights as you see them. Ps. the Mosely fight was the closest to call since pac did score a flash KD & fmj didn`t, also Shane stunned floyd & never stunned pac BUT I thought floyd put on a better performance ouside of those incidents aka the majority of the fight... Shane had pac looking frustrated & a bit lost when he was boxing on the back foot... but vs floyd he was being made to go back & quite frankly beaten up more throughout. All in all, I`d be happier if I was floyd when comparing common opponents because he did decisively overcome all of those men & their styles, the fact that 3 (arguably 4) of these men were beaten easier by pac doesn`t equal the fact that the vast majority actually had pac losing to JMM... thats just my opinion.
