Just listened to Raging Babe Radio pod.

Some smack talk from Willie Monroe. He says boxing is about hit and not get hit. GGG gets hit, he's fighting exciting but not smart. Those who box and defensive first are called cowards but in reality they are smart. He says casual fans can't see this distinction. He says everybody can trade like GGG, but it takes intelligence to hit and NOT get hit. GGG doesn't have defense. He called on GGG's intelligence.

Do you think the kid actually believes the shit he saying by denegrating GGG to the level of Provod or just starting this promotional smack talk?

If he believes in his own words, do you think it's actually him who's NOT smart instead of an elite fighter in GGG?

well power has always been a double edged sword, you fall in love with it and rely on it. now its something GGG clearly has in bucketloads.. but for a guy who hits as hard as he does, his boxing ability is VERY GOOD

I always hear that "hit and don't get hit" thing, while it's kinda utopic in reality. Every boxer gets hit, no matter how mobile, defensive and evasive he is.
In reality it comes down to hitting your opponent more and harder as he hits you back.

I almost guarantee that in when they meet in May, Monroe gets hit more by Golovkin in every round he lasts as the other way round. Add the huuuuge gap in punching power and you can expect what kinda "fight" we're going to see.

I think this fight will show GGG's ability to cut off the ring and generally box a bit better than he has needed to in recent fights (if Monroe can last that long). It's a good test for him actually as he hasn't through a more defined 'boxer' type for a while. Don't see it going past 5 personally but I'm expecting it to either raise or answer a few more questions on GGG

Monroe definately believes his words, and he's definately going to get knocked out. Everyone can't fight the same. You have to fight to your strengths. That's what Golovkin does and he it makes him an extremely effective fighter.

Monroe Jr has been banging on about this for awhile now.
He will see the light on May 16th and be baptized in his own blood.
He will be reborn a Good Boy.:rofl

Anyone think he might do okay? Murray fared relatively well with his movement and he's not a natural mover. Granted Murray had a chin too, I'm not sure about Monroe's chin.

Yeah, that's why every fight he's been in, his opponents complimented his boxing ability. Monroe Jr will see what boxing's all about soon.

What absurdity. I'd like to see any other fighter trade with top 10 MWs like Golovkin does without getting dropped. It takes more skill to be as aggressive as he is without getting knocked out or eating hard counters all the time.

Obviously he meant stylistically and not literally lol. Literally no one can trade with GGG due to his power alone, and that's not what Monroe meant))

Post-fight Monroe will give GGG full credit, but after a couple of months after healing his wounds, he'll say stuff Rosado started to say like "GGG gets hit and I hit him a few times, I want to earn a rematch". I recognise these kind of people, they have a certain pattern in behaviour.

if GGG had subpar ring intelligence, he wouldn't be #1 in the division

Glad Monroe has confidence, he will need it.
