and perhyaps saved his career, maybe even his health. i agree he could have continued, but he couldn't have won. it is not as cowardly as guys running out of bounds in the nfl, or knocking passes down over the middle, so as to not get hit (randy moss).
He's a fat ass with a tiny, tiny head. Malignaggi would KO this Goomba scrub. You've seen his picture? His head is the size of a pea. He'd get bounced around like speedbag.
He tried to make it a controversial count out like Rubio did. Either stay down or get up before 9 1/2
The guy came strong back after being KD twice in the same round. Then got sparked again. Fought, got 2 big shot that shooked him. All those words are for saying that he got concussions. He got about 6 of them in 20 minutes. The ref should of stoped it.
Monroe gave it his best shot. No disgrace in quitting when he did. He had nothing left. What was the point in continuing? I commend GGG on cutting off the ring so effectively from the get go. Masterful.
An American quits after trying to pull the old quick count trick to save face and he gets applauded for it. If an E.E. or Central Asian fighter did the same thing he would be branded a quitter for the rest of his career. The TS may have been a bit rough around the edges but he has a point.
For both Monroe and Geale, technically their response to the referee when they were ask about continuing..it was negative. So both fighters stopped their own fight, but recognized a defeat after a good effort.
some of you people are blood thirsty assholes. monroe wanted a little bit of dignity at the end by looking like he wanted to make the count, big deal. Giving him stick because of that after he gave it a very good shot and couldn't win is re****ed
Only he didn't give it a good shot he quit like a baby. He tired to trick the referee and fans. He has no Chin or Heart. He was exposed tonight. Why were people on here saying he would give GGG problems? The ultimate way to win is by Quittage and that is what GGG did.
You're acting like he betrayed you personally. Crying/angry/outraged because he tried to get the ref to call it for him. And in a way you should blame yourself for what you're labeling as his antics. Monroe knows that the fickle boxing fans would scream "QUIT JOB! MONROE HAZ NO HEARTZ! NO CHIN! FACT!!!" if he just shook his head when the ref asked the first time. But he risks getting seriously hurt in a fight he can't really win if he continues. Essentially it's fans like this (that demand a fighter fight on when he has little chance of victory and a big chance of getting hurt) that necessitate the "trickery" he tried to pull.
Trying to just not beat the count was quite funny and embarrassing and i dont like to see ppl quitting. But then im sat here on my sofa saying that not in there against the hardest puncher in boxing. Even his jab takes something out of you. Ive boxed a little at a very low amateur standard and i just cant imagine every single shot i take landing as hard as another mans bomb. Monroe just seemed to accept there was no escape from a world of punishment, saw him shaking his head in the 5th, pretty much accepting he had no control over his monster punching opponant. Can see why he took the easy way out in the 6th but dont like to see it.
