Wednesday, May 28 2008 Former world champion Mahyar Monshipour of France announced Tuesday in the sports daily newspaper "L'Equipe" that he had resumed training with a view to compete in four fights over the next two years. The first of these is already scheduled for "the end of September," said the 33-year-old Monshipour, without revealing a location or the identity of his opponent. "All this is still under discussion but things should be settled very quickly," he added. Monshipour lost his WBA super bantamweight world title on March 18, 2006 against Thailand's Somsak Sitchatchawal. Following the fight he promised he would not go back into the ring. "Of course, I made a decision under the purview of saturation," said Monshipour. "Today I miss the adrenaline of the ring. I was looking for things outside of boxing. I haven't found them, so I've come back."
