Galaxy was out of this world. The Thai was a tank. 50 wins, 44 by KO, with only 1 defeat. 19 successful defenses of his title over a seven-year period. Let's see if Inoue will still be defending his title up until age thirty-five as Galaxy had. Sorry, Inoue does not survive until the final bell.
Galaxy's 1 loss was very early in his career....his 7th pro fight....on points over 4 rounds to somebody named Sak Galaxy. Pretty much unstoppable after that though. His wiki page shows that Ring Magazine has him #19 among the 100 greatest punchers of all time, and the 43rd greatest fighter of the last 80 years. I'd lean towards Galaxy as well, but wouldn't bet on it.
The truth is Galaxy was 49-2. No one who has seen his last fight can score that bout in his favour with an honest card.
Well, surprisingly Khaosai Galaxy won’t have the size/strength advantage and we saw how he can look in with someone who can match up in that regard, end of the road or not the bout with Armando Castro is what we’ve got. Inoue is closer in size to Roberto Duran then a 115lbs guy from the 80s. I think Inoue probably brings too much versatility for Khaosai and in terms of ability and physical advantages he has that also in spades. The Thai was stiff and very predictable his meal ticket was being a sawed off Hercules and here he’s fighting a lightweight in reality with big power who gravitates towards body punching- I forecast a mid rounds stoppage for the monster.
if you watch Galaxy close he was alot subtle then given credit for.He was a walk in slugger like many people think as he was pretty slick in alot of ways. Now im not saying he was a master boxer because he wasn't but he was not some face first brawler either by any means. People are sleeping on the fact that he was a HUGE boxer in his weight class and I would argue he is alot stronger then Monster although Monster is alot more explosive and faster in my opinion. I would also like to see how monster handles a southpaw puncher as well. I think it would have been an action packed fight regardless of the winner and im pretty sure this fight does not see the final bell.
I had it 116-112 in favor of Galaxy. They each had a knockdown round so that cancels out. If you wanted to give every swing round to Castro, then you could theoretically score 7-5 in Castro's favor. However, if you give every swing round to Galaxy, then it would be 10-2. Castro only won rounds 2 and 12 convincingly. When you're fighting a guy making his 19th defense of his title, you need to do a bit more to sway the judges.
What kind of logic is this? Khaosai defended nearly entirely vs journeymen, in his entire reign he defended vs three contenders at super fly. (He also defended vs a flyweight champion moving up)
Inoue has crushed his share of cans. And Donaire was ancient for the weight class by the time Inoue got him even the first time when he got his eyesocket shattered.
In 23 fights Inoue has beaten 16 contenders, Khaosai beat 3 in 51. When Inoue is 35, there's a good chance he'll be competing at featherweight or maybe even super featherweight, so yeah, it's more likely he will lose. But Inoue could beat journeymen at 122 until he was 40 if he waited around to grab a title.
Well here is the issue. In Galaxys run he was able to make same day weigh ins. So on fight night at some point he used to weigh 115lbs. Inoue would never make 115lbs in the early 80s. He'd be a lightweight or a featherweight. I don't think Khaosai big and strong as he looked man handling largely weak comp was ever outmuscling someone who cuts to 130 odd lbs before dehydrating. For perspective Khaosai cut down from 135lbs in camp on a diet of one bowl of rice a day Inoue can't get any lower without needing to lose water. Galaxy is simply not bigger and it's highly unlikely he was stronger and it'd be apparent. his opponents would look tiny next to Inoue much smaller then the Thai made them look. I have seen I believe every fight we have of Galaxy just about, there are subtle things in every champion it doesn't make them great boxers, Khaosai was reliant on a meal ticket punch and being bigger then the other guys his skills were good but his opponents made him look much better then he was, his brother Khaokor was better in my opinion. Have you seen his fight with Armando Castro? That was the only time he was in with someone who could match him in his strong suits and he looked hopeless, robbery plain as day and he was no Inoue.
