Id give Haye a lot credit if he fought Barrett and beat him.

Honestly, Ive noticed its only the antiKlitschko crowd that doesnt give people credit when someone wins.

Again, Haye should take this fight and beat Barrett. Id give him a lot of credit.

I always liked Monte and I think he'd be a good litmus test for Haye even at this point in his career. Whether Haye agrees is up to him.

Truth is that you don't wanna put anyone in with Barrett unless you're absolutely sure that your fighter has what it takes to beat him cuz he comes to fight and is more than capable of springing an upset. If Barrett had fought smarter against Valuev (he had a lot of nervous energy and was just winging shots) he could have made it a real close fight. Not saying he would have won but Valuev was there for the taking. He was horribly slow but Barrett didn't take advantage. Even Emmanuel Steward commented during that fight that if Barrett had just fought more composed he could have really done something.

I'm surprised some are saying Barrett is a waste of time for Haye. Barrett is a solid veteran who has been in with a lot of good fighters. He would be a very solid test for Haye who has done nothing at heavyweight yet. Actually, if Haye doesn't belong amongst the top heavies out there than Barrett will find out for us. Barrett has actually done well with prospects in his career. The only problem with Barrett is age and the strange choice of having Greg Leon as his advisor.

I'd be a bit surprised if this fight happens because there are bigger names out there for Haye. I still think that Rahman will get the shot but Barrett would be a good test.

Like I said, Monte is ranked #9 by the WBO which is one of the belts that Klitschko has & Haye claims he wants.

I consider Barrett a better test for Haye than Maskaev or Rahman at this point in their respective careers.

Haye is not "The World," not by any stretch of the imagination.................

Haye wants the highest ranked easiest test available & that's why he's trying to fight Oleg or Hasim. :deal

Haye is already ranked third with them.

I dont claim to know how rankings work, I am sure nobody does. But I doubt beating Barrett would do much for his ranking.

The best way Haye gets a shot at Klitschko is by becoming his WBO mandatory. Beat one highly ranked WBO guy, and he could be in line.

Dimitrenko would be the man. He is ranked number 1 by WBO. Povetkin is at two, so when Wlad beats him, his ranking should fall, and Haye - Dimitrenko could be a final elininator.

Not to say I think this is the best route for him at all. He should fight a chinny name like Maskaev/Rahman first, hopefully score an early spectacular KO, and that gets the networks interested.

Then go after Ibragimov, Chambers, or Brock type level. Then fight Peter for WBC (there is no way in hell Vitali is making ot to the venue) THEN unify with Wlad. The foght is much bigger becasue of the title and crowns all but an undisputed champion. Be HUGE.

    Exactly! :good
Haye talks **** about Wlad and the whole HW division as "Dem Bums"....
Then he goes after guys that are way way past there primes....forget primes Rahman and Maskaev should retire.

How is fighting those guys proving anything? If Haye had never talked so much, I think most would be fine with a Rahman or Maskaev fight for Haye to "get his feet wet" at HW.

If Haye is so confident he can "destroy all HW"s" he should pick a better challenger. Amazing to me, but Haye thinks he will beat Rahman or Maskaev and that win should get him to Klitschko right away.

    What a joke!

Bull****. There aren't 10 active hw's better than barrett, besides after the top 1, there are about 3 interchangeables for the next spot, then about 10 interchangeables for the next couple of spots (and Barrett is in there). Barrett's acquitted himself well against virtually every hw he has faced and has a decent resume and is coming off a good w (KO over a huge active guy who was buzzing through c and b- comp). If Haye beats him, he will get credit.

He will get no credit for beating Maskaev.

He will get a little credit for beating Rahman.

yeah he starched him immediately in a rematch. couser is bad, but he aint' the worst heavy and in the hw's sometimes anything can happen. i don't think rahman is a complete shell now (unlike maskaev) and the fight you're referring to was a title fight in 2005 (or maybe early 06) when rahman was still relevant and it was a close fight.

go ahead name 10 legit better hw's -- no one can because after wlad (and arguably a couple of others) there are quite a few interchangeable names.

BTW: I'm not saying Barret is the best available as I'd prefer Haye take on golota, arreola, tua, or toney, but IMO he's a much stiffer test now than Maskaev and a tougher test than Rahman (at least what i could tell from the toney and lawrence fights).

He has a professional relationship with Greg Leon? That's too bad.
