I realized so many young fighters trying to look good at heavyweight have picked Barrett to look good against. 2 Gunz is a talented fighter but he seems to have chin problems at times or under performs. The one thing he always brings is a punch. I realized that this guy though ranked for many years has been a gate keeper for a lot of his career.
Early on he had nice wins against Thunder, aging Page, aging Witherspoon. However he lost two times one to Wlad the other to Whitaker.
As a gatekeeper 27-0 Joe Mesi beat him by decision in a fight that Barrett looked very good.
In 04 and in 05 he took on 2 24-0 fighters on their way up and won Guinn by SD and Beck by TKO 9.
That got him an interim fight with Rahman where he lost wide on cards.
Then Valuev used him as his coming over to America to look good. Barrett had his moments and looked good at times even shook him with a right in the 1st but went down several times in route to an 11th round TKO.
Tye Fields tried to make his crossover from Midwest attraction to title contender but was embarrassingly stopped in 57 seconds.
This win got him a fight against David Haye former cruiser weight champion trying to test the heavyweight waters and make a move at a belt. He was TKO'd in 5 where he had a few moments a KD ruled a slip but he was beat bad.
Most recently Solis TKO'd him in 2 rounds to get exposure and move up in the ranks.
On Saturday he takes on Ustinov on a major card headlined by Vitali klitschko. Ustinov is 18-0 with 15 KO's and his best win is over sprott. He represents a Valuev like fighter 6'7 300 pounds. He has the size to beat Barrett but can the guy take a punch. His resume is not that deep and Barrett has beaten undefeated guys trying to make a break. Can Barrett get an upset?

Barrett's getting brutally KO'd again by Ustinov, he's just showing up for the paycheck.

Saw an article on the eastside home on Barrets chances vs Tua

So I decided to revive an old thread for the up coming fight with Tua

We left of with Ustinov who despite having him down early and ready to go could not finish Barret who went 12 but was described as tired after 8.

With his history of Gate Keeper fights and recent bouts can Barret block Tua from earning another title shot and a big cross over back into the big time.

Or is this just anotehr carefully picked guy for Tua who has no chance
