http://www.nzherald.co.nz/boxing/news/video.cfm?c_id=23&gal_objectid=10801079&gallery_id=125254 A video of the press conference today for the Monte Barrett v Shane Cameron fight in July. I know this doesn't rate on the international scale. But Barrett seems a pretty decent and articulate guy. I think it is great he is down here and taking on the best we have to offer. Good for New Zealand and NZ boxing.
Barrett with those eye glasses. Barrett seems to be in decent shape considering how many brutal beatings he has take on his career. One of my favourite journeymen.:good
Chauncy is hopefully on the undercard. If he wins then it sets up a Barrett Welliver show down at some point. Cameron I think is a better boxer and a bigger draw in NZ, hence that is the fight being made. NZ boxing fans might know who Welliver is, but the general public who will cough up the cash for pay-per-view don't. Plus Cameron brings more excitement I think. He is as hard as nails, good chin, good power, and only goes in once direction, straight at the opponent...........obviously disregard the Cameron v Tua fight, it was not a good advertisement of the sort of fighter he is.
They can all come down here. We have no problem with it. They may not be elite anymore but they can still put on a show, and have far more skills than our local talent.
i dont know about that....ive seen some fights (dont ask for names or how old, wish i knew) and some of the heavyweights with average at best records seem to destroy people when they fight, and while doing it, you see the speed and power and you realize they are better than alot of the top 25 guys everywhere, just unknown over on NZ.....i was impressed with the few shows i watched with the bigger guys
