Monte barrett vs. Kevin johnson

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BoxingInsider, Apr 20, 2009.

  1. May 15, 2009 in Atlantic City New Jersey Kevin "THE KINGPIN" Johnson will take on Monte Barrett. This is a grudge match between the two. Johnson and Barrett had many brutual sparring sessions in New Jersey/New York. This is a step up for THE KINGPIN, as for Barrett--this may be his last stop on a long journey.

Who you guys/girls have and how?

Actually what would be FUNNY is if Kevin Johnson
    KOs Barret.
What would that do to the betting odds in Vegas on the Haye Vs Wlad K. fight?

    HAHAH!
OK I am hoping this happens. Just to make it all that much funnier.

Vlad knocked Barrett out when Barrett was in his prime.

    Valouev knocked Barrett out.

    Vlad will knock Haye out.

Two, whenever Poochie's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Poochie"?

I have seen Kevin Johnson fight and I have a hard time imagining him ever being in some "brutal" sparring sessions. With anybody.

As for this fight, lets hope Barrett doesn't hurt himself entering the ring like he almost did in the Haye fight.

I wouldn't have thought it would do much to the odds at all. Barrett was never meant to be anymore than a stepping stone for Haye and Haye beat him very easily. If Johnson is anywhere near as good as he thinks he is, then he should beat him easily too.

I don't think Johnson is on Barrett's level.

Whatever Barrett is, he's better than Johnson.

I did a thread on this a while back when they first started talking about the fight being a possibility. I am looking forward to this fight. I am a huge Barrett fan, but at the same time I see a lot of potential in Johnson. I can't pick a winner for this fight yet, or who I will be rooting for, but let's hope for a good fight.

I like Monte but he's finished. As much as I think KJ is a fraud, he takes a UD here off his jab alone, which is all he ever throws, actually.
