so by that logic, in Tarver Jones II we can say the same thing, that Tarver is superhuman and Jones was an ameteur all along.

Griffin got 2 gift-wrapped decisions against Toney, but they were pretty close fights. He was at least holding his own against prime Jones in the fight fight even before he won by DQ. Getting blown out early can happen in boxing, just ask Roy Jones.
    Griffin was badly underrated.

    griffin was a good fighter.

a good top 5 contender in his prime.

toney got away with it numerous times himself so he deserved some payback against griffin on the scoring. :yep

O yeah for sure in his peak years he beat James Toney twice although the 2nd is kinda questionable, the 1st Jones fight alot of people including one of the offical judges had him winning threw 9 until he won on DQ,He was outboxing DM for the 1st 3 rounds until he got KOed so u gotta look at like this agianst the elite guys in his prime he was 3-2 thats not to shabby. He had some pretty crafty defensive skills in my mind.

And so did two judges but it was another robbery in progess. That is if Griffin would actually have survived to the 12th. By the way how old were you when you watched it? I think I was pretty young but I do remenber that I'm right on this one.:smoke

Yeah and he got robbed big time against Rico Hoye and him and Gonzales were going at it real strong until the cut.

Griffin was at least as good as Ray Robinson.

The first fight was about RJJ doing a Joe Calzaghe on him. Griffin looking good had more to do with Jones not being motivated, than Griffin's skill-level, which was why he got nailed so bad in their second fight, where Jones suddenly had something to fight for.

i'm 27 ya cheeky bugger. :yep

i've seen the fight quite recently.

scored it a few times and had jones ahead on each occasion. :bbb

it's a myth that griffin was winning that fight.

hence the reason the judges had jones ahead. :good

Griffin didn't have good recuperative powers. Once he was hurt, it's pretty much a wash that he would lose the fight. He was pretty skilled, and I had him ahead of Jones in the first fight, but he could be punchy. He was a gatekeeper. You would learn a lot fighting him, and then move on to the next level.

Heavily outboxed Jones in there first fight? WTF you talking about? Jones was doing a job on him and Griffin was spoiling for the whole fight! It was only when Jones hit him when he was down he got DQ`ed.In the rematch it wasnt even close. Jones was very aggresive and caught him with lead flush left hooks and landed a peach of a hook in the 1st round that had him on ***** street. The guy couldnt even get up and was staggering all around the ring.Thats hardly a flash KD.:patsch

ya right for once rantings. :yep

griffin was also decked in an earlier rd in the first fight.

no way was he doing any better than level pegging and that's scoring kind to griffin.

2nd fight was a massacre. :patsch
