Montell Griffin deserves credit for the first Jones fight.

One of my favorite stylistic matchups ever. And as a Jones fan I can appreciate how good Griffin really performed. Griffin took more rounds from prime Jones than any other fighter, and Jones was clearly bothered by Griffin's style which led to his DQ.

    Ya'll musta forgot.. :yep

Indeed, Griffin proved himself an elite fighter in that fight.

I believe he actually outlanded Jones according to compubox, at a higher connect % as well.

Griffin was rated in the top 10 P4P after decisioning Toney in 1996, and then winning by DQ over Roy Jones.

Griffin simply could not accomplish much, as he was beaten in his prime by the best 2 LHW's of the past 20 years: Roy Jones and Dariusz M.

the truth is that Jones was on his way to beating griffin by knockout and Griffin would be behind on the scorecards anyways. And the scorecards would not even have been looked at cause he was gonna get KTFO. the DQ call was weak. The ref should have deducted 2 points and given Griffin 5 minutes to recover.

And michalczewski smoked him. Well the stoppage was quick but it still would have happened.
