i know i shouldn't judge this future fight just by how each fighter fought a common opponent.....

    buttt...if i HAD to.....

then damn....montiel is going to KO donaire!!! LOL

picking it off base on their common opponent concepcion has its merits but let us remember that concepcion purposely weighed over the 115 limit and by fight night, he has 2 or 3 weight divisions over donaire that made him absorbed donaire's punches.

over-all, i still like montiel's chances here since he is a heavy puncher and technically sound than most of donaire's previous opponents.

from watching donaire vs. conception....donaire has more boxing skills...but i think if montiel lands a big right hand on donaire....he's going to wobble him...and it will go downhill from there. montiel is more powerful and accurate than conception

Can someone give an analysis of the Rafa Conception that fought Donaire to the one that fought Montiel?

montiel is a beast. if he hurt donaire, he would be relentless but not as reckless as concepcion. i am surprised that this is not a 50-50 fight on odds. this is really a pick-em fight and i would personally lean on montiel here if i was forced to bet.

Much like last night, I'm glad this fight is being made, but, I don't think it is going to be an FOTY candidate.

I think Donaire abuses Montiel before stopping him relatively early.
The only way I see Montiel really having a chance is if he can catch Donaire with something early and either take him out or make him respect him.
Donaire has all the physical advantages in this fight.
But personally, I've never thought all that much of Montiel. I think before he caught Hasegawa he was on his way to a wide UD loss.

Montiel is the best at 118 to be the best you fight the best. Philboxing ducks nobody. So,unlike Vic Darchinyan who fight power puff punchers.Runito fights Montiel who can crack. I see this fight as to see if Runito can handle, a true pnd for pnd fghter has to handle adversity.Show some chin, heart and smarts. My analysis, Nonito will go for speed and stay outside. He tends to drop his hand when he steps out, might want to be careful- it's a bait to lure his opponent in and counter them.He has quick hands and will use it, dart in and out, slip punches and take the opening.Montiel will probably win but it won't be as easy as people think.Montiel has heavy hands and one shot can end it.However he does make mistakes too but there's not many that can pull the trigger quickly and right on target. Montiel is open Runito will exploit his charges runito will clock him coz he sets traps pretty good. Montiel lands the damaging shots. I got him winning.
