Montiel beat up gorres. I dunno what these people saw. But if Z won that one, he certianly didn't look it. He was holding on for dear life for chrisakes. Montiel woulda stopped him if Z didn't hold or run...IMO, I like Donaire. But I think he will have to pick himself up from the canvas to win, that's if he can...I'd give Donaire a chance. I am a fan of Nonito but let's get real..Montiel has been a champ for a long time this guy hits harder than Darchinyan.I think these people are understamating Montiel.

 

i guess you've only watched the latter rounds of the fight. if you will look at their faces, montiel certainly didn't look like a winner. and if you will base it on the number of rounds, gorres easily took 6 rounds from the early to the latter mid rounds.

 

Nah, mate....Montiel had a scratch from a headbutt, big deal!!
I had Montiel winning cuz he landed the harder power shots. And was the aggressor all though out the fight. And I am guessing you had Z winning because of those mosquito bombs he landed. It was close but the harder telling blows defintely went to Montiel and that won the fight in a close fight..

 

montiel landed those hard shots during the latter rounds when he was being scolded by his corner to put the pressure because he is losing the fight. those mosquito bombs that contiually landed on montiel makes his face unrecognizable. even montiel acknowledged after the fight that he did not follow a good fight plan and was not aggressive enough during the early to mid rounds. only the last few rounds and the deductions saved him from losing to gorres, imo. the thing that impressed me by montiel on that fight was his heart.

 

Montiel seems to be in his absolute prime right now. I can't ever remember seeing him fight better. Bring on Mijares. :bbb

 

Hah unrecognizable? It was a scratch. Nothing more LOL.... Check this out though. Montiel's in good form at this point has had a few impressive wins.So I think he is more dangerous now than ever before. That's just my opinion...

 

i don't want to go far and look for pictures after the fight but that fight was about 2 year ago and even if he did not perform well on that fight, he made it up with strings of impressive performances. and i certainly agree that he is a dangerous foe more than ever.

Gorres is one of good technical fighters but he has stamina issues. Infact he KDed Darchinyn in tht fight only to lose steam in the later rounds. He was actually stumbling down even if darchinyan was not hitting him. That was how bad his conditionig was. If only Gorres could develop his stamina, he could do well in the division.

By the way, Gorres won today via a shutout.

 

Glad to see Montiel had longer trunks this time....
