The fight will be April 30th in Japan. Finally somebody from Top Rank fights a big name.

it also has a good uncercard. a fight between balweg bangoyan and toshiaki nishioka. nishioka has two consecutive knockouts while bangoyan has two close MDs in his last 2 fights.

bangoyan is one of the better filipino prospects that even filipinos don't know much about.

anyway, hasegawa-montiel looks great on paper but this fight will be electric in the ring. good thing montiel isnt fighting eric morel next.

Still waiting for Top Rank confirmation. Any source on the Montiel side?

Great match-up but I see Hozumi stopping Montiel.

Bangoyan is a big underdog against Nishioka.

absolutely. i'm just happy he's fighting a "name" fighter for a change. his career wasnt really going anywhere before this. hopefully he doesnt end up getting ko'd in the 1st like boomboom bautista and ciso morales.

i also favor hasegawa over montiel.

takahiro aoh versus whyber garcia is also in the undercard. that should be a good scrappy battle.

this is a good looking card.

The only thing going to 23 year old Bangoyan's way is the age/youth factor. He's 10 years younger than Nishioka.

i don't think it's that big of a factor because generally, oriental fighters age slower that Filipino or mexican fighters because they put a bigger premium on defense while most filipino fighters choose press the action a little bit more.

Reminds me of the ludicrous round-by-round on here between Kessler and Sartison.

are you sure it is SIGNED? signed, by both hasegawa and montiel?

or are you referring merely to the announcement made in japan recently, that hasegawa plans to fight montiel? the announcement earlier this week said nothing about the fight actually being signed...

The source says it was signed...and then I read that he has a mandatory with Morel. Personally I don't think Arum would send Montiel to Japan to fight Hasegawa so I have my doubts...
