Montiel from the Hasagawa fight VS Rafael Marquez from the 2nd Mabuza fight. Who wins?

    Toss up.

Rafa Marquez might be one of the hardest punching Bantams ever but his defense always had some leaks and his chin was shaky. It's almost the same with Montiel who is one of the best boxers in the game but gets distracted in fights and gets tagged big, the bigger natural man would have to be Marquez so he would be favored but it's a toss up imo.

I guess I should have put "nobody gives a
****" as an option for this poll! I actually thought it
    was a good poll...

this is far from a toss-up

118 Marquez hits far more harder than Montiel, and could outbox him easily too.

It is a good matchup dont let some of these idiots dissuade u, some only like Pac and May,and the Pavlik fans have toned down.

Any ways both these guys are excellent fighters but ill pick Marquez in a heartbeat he had the whole package(only decent chin) naturally bigger stronger, harder hitting, and probably faster. Edge in chin to Montiel but not by much. Marquez by late stoppage or close but convincing decision.

Honestly I would give the power edge to Montiel. Just from watching the both of them Montiels punches appear more concussive.

not taking anything away from Rafa but Fernando isnt done dropping big names yet...Marquez is the better all-arounder but certainly not MORE powerful.

    No!!

Marquez hits much harder imo, Montiel is much faster and more versatile. I've been watching Marquez fight since his real early days, I've seen him get dropped bad by Genaro Garcia and stay down a second too late. Montiel is a more natural fighter and could definitely hurt Marquez if he catches him good.

And there's no doubt at Bantam if Rafa catches Montiel on the button he can hurt him bad, that's why imo it's a toss up.

Easily my ass, only losses Montiel has are a split decision and majority decision. Rafael ain't no Juan manuel, he would have his hands full with Montiel.

Sorry cant see it. Theres something of a sinister feeling when Fernando opens up. I guess its really a marginal difference either way. A trip to youtube could make a case for either fighter being more powerful. Rafas punches are perhaps more effective but thats more to do with timing than sheer power.

Montiel's best weight was at flyweight and Marquez best was at Bantam.

Montiel has trouble with boxers look at the Gonzalez,Gorres, and for a more recent account the early rounds of Hasegawa. Marquez's boxing ability is severly underrated because of the brawls he was in with Vasquez. Marquez would of easily won a decision if Montiel's chin could hold out to Rafa's power.

Incredible, the guy is dominating now and you're talking about him in past tense? As much as you talk about boxing on here you dont know **** son. You talk about Rafa like hes his ****ing brother. He aint. Montiel right now has done more than Rafa and hes not done yet. You act like Rafa is Sugar Ray Robinson.

Marquez was also getting his ass kicked by Tim Austin before knocking him out and was lucky to get the decision against Mark Johnson the first time. I'm not saying that Marquez can't/wont beat Montiel but I disagree that it will be easy for either guy to win.

Montiel is hot and cold, he can look flawless like he did against Castillo or look vulnerable like he has against Melendez and Valdez.
