This content is protected WBO superfly king Fernando "KO-chulito" Montiel has indicated he would want to face IBF flyweight king Nonito Donaire Jr should another Filipino, Z "The Dream" Gorres would not be available for a July 26 fight in Las Vegas. The battle will have to be in the undercard of the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito WBA welterweight championship at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Promoter Bob Arum, who now promotes Montiel, is reportedly talking to Donaire's manager Cameron Dunkin about a possible Montiel-Donaire showdown. The Arthro Kontra Arthritis-backed Donaire is currently in the United States helping his older brother Glenn prepare for his own title shot against IBF junior flyweight champ Ulises Solis. Montiel had earlier hinted he would love to face Gorres in a rematch, noting that there seems to be an unfinished business between them following his split decision victory over the Filipino last year. Montiel has indicated that since the Gorres fight, he has changed his style to fit the cravings of the fans, which resulted in all his knockout victories since the Gorres fight. He stopped Cecilio Santos (TKO10), Luis Melendez (TKO12), Martin Castillo (KO4) and most recently Luis Maldonado (TKO3).
i prefer he face gorres first..if he KOs gorres it would be something and i would put montiel above another level. Donaire would also be nice but i don't like how donaire is so inactive currently he might get starch!
i think montiel had improve tremendously in his last fights and would now win decesively against gorres this time. a donaire fight would be awesome but donaire's inactivity is worrying me. in any case i would pick montiel as the favorite in both fights.
how could he KO gorrez when he can't hit him. Gorrez beats him and was robbed in his own country. if they fight again, gorres needs to improve his stamina so he'd outbox montiel completely without fading in the championship rounds.
