Do you have any epic threads in the making? Top 50 fights of the 70's maybe?

    Really enjoyed them :good

Nah mate, would love to do that thread and have given it some thought, but I'm just too busy now, I have two jobs and a hobby which keep me extremely busy. Maybe some day I'll find the time. :good

Duran beat one of the best Welters ever that night. I see no reason why he couldnt beat Floyd.

I think Duran walks through Floyd's pitter patter, but this argument could also be made for how Floyd could beat Duran - No Mas!

I've got a lot of time for PBF as a fighter, but he'd struggle against an in shape, motivated Duran from 135 up. He's no SRL, and certainly no Tommy Hearns! I see a reasonably wide UD for Duran, probably 8-4

Great post ! Duran was incredible with his feinting. He had a great fighter like Palomino twitching and covering from mere feints. he also had a subtle slick defense as well. Loaded with great boxing savvy.

Duran`s tenacity and very underrated boxing skills would be way too much for PBF. For those who think that PBF`s boxing skills would be too much for Duran ,you haven`t seen the true vintage Duran... Duran in Montreal`s will to win was incredible. Geez, Catsillo was a problem for PBF ! I shudder to think of what would happen when Duran got PBF on the ropes... If PBF thinks that shoulder roll and smother would save him from Manos de Piedra, he would be in for a big suprise.Duran using his jab and feints, works his way in and with his underated speed starts to get to PBF. PBF, without enough pop to keep Duran honest, begins to get oushed back on his heels by Duran. At some point, he gets inside on PBF, and when he does... Duran by late TKO, yes he stops him while he couldn`t stop SRL. Why ? Because SRL was tougher andcould take it in a togh fight more than PBF... Vintage Duran in Montreal was unbeatable !!!

How can you say 'Duran's very underrated boxing skills?

There are threads on this site proclaiming him the most technically complete fighter of all time, and proclaiming him one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time even. With many, many people agreeing.

Duran and underrated do not belong in the same sentence

That's because Leonard was willing to fight Duran's fight. Mayweather wouldn't be willing to fight Duran's fight.

exactly. In a way that shows Ray heart to fight Duran at Duran's fight. But Ray learned and pretty much easily beat Duran the two other times he fought him. As did Benitez and Hearns. Duran is great, but a little overrated.

You don`t have a clue... Did I say the best at defensice skills ? No ! Just much better than your avreage puncher. If you don`t see him as an ATG, you are clueless when it comes to boxing. he outfought his opponents and outthought them as well...

More evidence that some myths die hard.

Ray and Angelo deserve credit for so successfully selling a bill of goods after Montreal that totally contradicted their own statements before Montreal.
