12 rounds = Golovkin by a small margin
15 rounds = Monzon, winning in great style in the last 4 rounds.

Who can take who's jab away is the biggest key for me?

Monzon and GGG's both have fantastic jabs. Their offenses are predicated on dictating jabs that control the opponent. GGG's jab is accurate and bulldozes guys but Monzons is snappy and relentless.

I still give the edge to Monzon, he was the master of pacing and ring control. I think GGG gives him fits but ultimately Monzon controls where and when the action takes place for the longer time. Would be interesting to see GGG backed up, his stalking combo's all take place off that jab and usually in the 3-5th rounds he really opens up. To date GGG hasn't really been backed up, his Plan A always works. If Monzon keeps GGG at distance, he may have to lunge or get overly aggressive to get into firing position. Monzon has a 6 inch reach advantage here.

Until GGG proves himself in a tough fight against top opposition only the amateurs would consider him beating a proven ATG. Monzon going away probably by ko.

Until I see more from GGG...and I'm a huge fan of his BTW,...but until I see more from him...if he rises to an even higher plateau,....then NO,..he wouldn't,...couldn't beat Carlos Monzon, who I esteem as the greatest middleweight champion of history. Carlos would have outgeneraled, out boxed, and hurt the so far "unhurtable" GGG en route to a unanimous decision.

I forgot to add this...Monzon would have dictated the terms to Golovkin...and Monzon was the MASTER of navigating the 15 round distance...and it would have been those championship rounds, from 13 to 15 where Carlos would have put an exclamation mark on an already dominant performance.

I can't see Monzon being outjabbed. He is one of the few fighters in history who fought HIS fight every fight. I think Monzon takes GGG's jab away nullifying it with his own and allows Carlos to operate at a distance just strafing (which again is what his always does). Monzon's jab were like waves on a beach rolling in.

And add in the fact Monzon has one of the best gas-tanks and beards in history. Tough fight for GGG.

I might make a typo while I'm in a rush, but McVey is factually wrong too often, uses double standards, and can't add.

He also makes plenty of grammatical and spelling errors too, which is ironic as he once asked to be excused from mistakes. He said had some sort of eye problem that prevent him from seeing well. Not sure if that's true or not, but he said it!

    Bump 2020

After seeing an aging GGG vs Monzon, how does everyone feel about this match up now?

    I pick Monzon by decision

I understand GGG beat Canelo twice. But GGG's reluctance to go to the body bothered me.

GGG has a typical Eastern European boxing style. I know he is from Central Asia but he fights like a typical EE fighter. Great fundamentals but lack of ability to improvise.

I can't see him beating Monzon.
