Was Monzon an Ali fan and Briscoe a Frazier fan? Their fight looks shockingly similar to Ali-Frazier.

Monzon sure contradicted his detractor's claim that he was "slow and robotic" in Briscoe II. Just watch the vid of the fight..Monzon was fluid and masterful in outboxing and outpunching 2 to 1 or at tiomes 3 to 1 Bad Bennie....with jabs, hooks thrown effortlessly. Yes, it did seem alot like Ali-Frazier, and Briscoe may have been a fan of Frazier, but I don't think Monzon was particularly a fan of Ali's,..he was fighting in a style he had to fight vs Briscoe. Monzon possesed a towering arrogance and belief in himself.

He was brilliant in the rematch with Briscoe.

Of all the fights of Monzon that are available i would say this is his best performance.

I think I would agree with that..though for rising to the occasion though adversity, his rematch with Valdez also stands out. But Monzon looked sooo good vs Briscoe, and he had a bit of adversity as well in this fight...in that 9th round. Monzon proved his chin and recoup powers without a doubt then.
