Monzon would have dominated Martinez. Of that much we can be sure. Carlos was a master on defense, cooly measuring his opponent, unleashing just enough combos to maintain control of the fight while slowly beating his opponent down.

How exactly would this fight play out? I would have to go back and study Martinez's films to know for sure. But I cannot believe that Monzon would have had much trouble with Martinez.

Monzon would destroy Martinez. He'd keep him at a distance and simply pick him apart with the jab. As soon as he gets the right straight going, Martinez would start to fade. Monzon would finish him anytime past the 9th.

I'm old enough to remember Monzon. He was a great middleweight and not many could ever hope to beat him. Certainly not Martinez, who himself was pretty good. These days you don't see many boxers who can jab like Monzon.

Sergio had problems with the tight guards and decent jabs of Macklin and Barker before he gradually figured them out and his superior speed and power basically bailed him out. He'd have no hope of doing the same against Monzon. He'd have no hope of doing anything with Monzon. Sergio's very good, Monzon's the best middleweight I've ever seen. King Carlos shuts Martinez out of the fight and slowly breaks him down for a 9th round stoppage. A big difference in class here. Monzon was about as good as it gets.

Sergio wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Monzon. None. Zero. No chance. At all. **** that. No way. Not possible. Not a ****ing prayer. Goodnight Sergio. Easy work. All day. Every day.

    Nom sayin?

Monzon by UD. But no way any middleweight has an easy time with Sergio who has an awkward unorthodox style, southpaw, speed, power, and great ability to adapt. Sergio at 154-160 is a beast in his own right.

Monzon was fairly sexy himself...in a more rugged and brooding way..More of a Donny Walberg bad boy thing going on..Some chicks prefer that to the more stunning, photogenic look of Sergio, so I hear.
