I consider Monzon at the top of the middleweight food chain (along with the great Harry Greb), and I would pick him on points against the (also great) Toy Bulldog...But I think Walker has the ability to push him...(I thought Walker took that filmed Light heavy title fight against Loughran!)
Walker is the type of fighter that if he fights at 100 %, and his WW, MW, LtHvy, or mid-range hvyweight opponent underestimates him, then Walker may win in big fights. Monzon would probably understand Walker's abilities and would win by Decision.
Sadly, Walker is fading into history and his greatness is being forgotten. He was one of the greatest fighters who ever lived. I believe that Walker would out work Monzon.
Monzon is one of the very greatest at 160 but Walker would be right in this. He can get crude and wild but this is more than offset by his aggression, determination and durability. He would swarm all over Monzon and truly test his abilities. Great matchup.
All the answers are very good but i agree with this one the most. Monzon at first to me seemed very generic but wen u study him less is definitely more. I have Monzon in a hell ova fight
I have believed that Monzon was the greatest middleweight champ for the longest time, and after considering this matchup, I have no reason to change my assessment of him. Walker would have been an ever aggressive forcein there with Carlos, but as always, Monzon would figure him out and utilize all his skills and physical advantages to outpoint the Toy Bulldog. It would have been one hell of a fight, I do believe, but it would go down as Monzon W15 Walker IMO.
Walker was the real deal. Interesting story is that in the 1970's Walker was found unconscious lying in the gutter in Freehold NJ nearby where I currently live. Nobody knew who he was.
