Both were decent amateurs who went to the 84 Olympics, and both were chucked into the deep end as Bantams, both winning Qorld titles within their first ten fights. I believe this part of Fenechs career was when his hands were at ther best. Who takes it? 12 or 15 rounds, and would it make much difference? Both had Serious engines and solid chins: for me this is one that goes the distance.
fleaman i would go for fenech by decision or late stoppage but there is every chance that this fight would end early in a tech-decision for either fighter with both fighters happy to go to war and the risk of head clashes quite high and the good chance moon would cut
Flea, I've only seen a bit of Moon, and he was, put simply, a terror at his best. So I'm not sure, although I think Fenech could maybe have worked his way inside Moon's wide shots and tore in up close. Bruiser of a fight.
I feel Fenech was the better fighter based on the weights he went on to operate in. Moon himself did great work DOWN in weight. Was Fenech a better fighter? I really haven't seen enough of Fenech at Bantam, the fight where he wins the title and the last round of the Zarate fight. Obviously Ive seen the Nelson fights but that bears little here, Fenech didn't have to adapt his fight a much as his hands were not as brittle here (or so I believe) Anyone: Reccomended Fenech viewing?
it is at feather but watch his fight with villasana if possible watch the version with the aussie commontaters they are worth a laugh
Difficult one...Fenech is the bigger guy and has better overall skills. For at least a portion of this fight I see Jeff muscling the fight where he wants it and landing more often. But Moon is quite simply a wrecking ball..One of the hardest p4p punchers of alltime..His super aggressive style clashing with Fenech's aggressive style something is going to happen. Fenech is hitting the deck or at least getting wobbled a few times and that might totally change the dynamic of the fight. Might force him to be quite timid but then again he might just fire up and make the right adjustments. Whether he can hold on and maybe grind out a decision Im not sure...Because Jeff had a pretty decent beard at these weights whilst the cutting wasnt effecting him adversely. But decent, good, very good even excellent chins could be dented by a guy like Moon, he didnt even need to land clean to knock you out. Its going to be a war....maybe I side with Fenech here though.
What a gruelling battle, and sorry for the late reply. I wouldn't bet on a Fenech stoppage, but i am provoked into thinking the workrate means he does a lot of scoring. Someone like Moon who would meet him and actually enjoy it (crazy i know) has a chance himself of doing the scoring. Would be dramatic and the commentary would be in love with it. Fenech, just.
