According to sky sports Jamie Moore is going up against Jimmy Colas on July 24. Colas seems durable went the distance with Sergiy Dzinziruk. Thoughts?
Don't know anything about Colas but good to see Moore keeping busy. Any idea where this is likely to be?
Doesn't say. He was supposed to be on the Sunderland card on the Mayweather Vs Marquez night but its all been moved for 6 days later or just this fight. Moore also said:
Decent enough opponent, should be able to give him a few more rounds then in recent time. Martinez-Moore is the only interesting fight that can be made for the WBC title. No-one wants to see Matinez-Cintron II or Martinez-JCC Jr. thats for sure.
activity is good for moore, but doesn't he need a statement fight? i mean, getting ranked, getting the shot is one thing. but these fights don't tend to go ahead without american TV. it's very possible they would snub jamie moore, not knowing that he's a cracking fighter ready to walk through world class guys.
Looks like a decent, durable, low risk opponent at this stage. He'll be looking to become the 1st to stop him and it's a good move to keep busy and maybe get a straight shot at a title rather than have to take an eliminator in a tough division.
It would make a bit of a statement if he managed to stop this guy, but having Boxrec'd him it appears he has simply lost to pretty much every decent fighter he has ever faced. Moore has had the benefits of being more active so far in 2009, Piccirillo was a good win, the other guy was a bit of a clown however. I suspect this is more of a marking time fight while Maloney can secure a title shot or eliminator, the title almost being secondary. I hope thats the case anyway.
Does anybody think that Moore can break Cintron..... Mooresy I am calling you out here, I know you are there I don't think he hits as hard as his record suggests at 147, never mind 154. Seeing Kermit cry again would be hilarious!
It would be funny if he cried again! However in his last fight he certainly did not go in there as a 'banger' and boxed really nice and this is how I would see him approaching the Moore fight.
Don't expect Colas to roll over like his last "decent" European opponent. Colas did well against Dzinziruk and especially the highly underrated Czech fighter Lukas Konecny who he recently dropped a MD to. Good fight while he bides his time for a title shot...
trust me those americans know about decent fighters from around the world they will know about Moore the hard core fans i mean
