Langford by KO. Moore would wade into him and engage (as he usually did). Not a good strategy when facing someone with Langford's power. Both are strong and Moore has the better defense, but he's hittable. Plus he fights in the danger zone at all times. Somewhere along the line Sam will hit him with one of those heavyweight-killing blasts and Archie will go down. If he gets back up Sam will finish him. Nobody escaped the kill once Langford had him hurt.

    The initial instinct is Langford.

But let's not forget Moore survived such hellish punchers at Curtis Sheppard and Bob Satterfield. It is not an automatic Langford knockout.

There are some who will believe Moore is more skilled. Defensively I would say definitely. Moore was geared for rolling and counter punching.

Make no mistake about it, Moore is almost as dangerous for Langford as the other way round.

But generally I would favour Langford.

I dislike the term 'wade in.' Moore's boxing skills were top class, including his jab. There is a serious chance of Langford being outboxed.

True. I'm not trying to make light of Moore's exceptional skills. He's among my favorites to watch and that downwards trajectory of his jab is like a chop from a hatchet. Absolutely beautiful to watch.

But he was the type to get in there and mix. He wasn't exactly an evasive boxer. He was an aggressive one. He survived Sheppard and Satterfield, yes. But neither one of those gents was the skilled, intelligent fighter that Langford was. He can set traps, feint and create openings that those other two didn't have the talent to do.

Both these guys had enormous amounts of experience and will no doubt be swapping defensive and offensive notes throughout the fight. And I think Archie will be outboxing Langford and be slightly ahead before being caught and taken out.

    Langford by ko.

When you realise that Langford was in his prime between 170-190 it's very hard picking someone to beat him especially when that someone has to weigh the same as san therefore negating his size advantage.

The only man I'd pick to successfully outbox him would be Jones Jr who could pot shot from the outside. Noone else has the athletic ability to avoid his crushing shots.
