Who wins this fight? I think it would have been entertaining. Tommy by TKO around 7 or 8. Probably having to get up off the deck a couple of times.
Been done a few times, but usually makes for a good conversation.. I like Moorer in this one. Quicker hands, slightly more skilled and had that little bit of extra nastiness. Great fight for a few rounds though. Tommy might put him on the deck once or twice. Moorer TKO inside of five.
This would be like the Moorer vs Cooper fight or the Morrison vs Bent fight, trouble is I can't decide who would be the victor.
yeah it could go either of those ways. Morrison could also win if truth be told. I just like Moorer because I think he's a bit more well rounded. And that battle he survived to win against Bert Cooper makes me lean a bit more towards him.
I'd probably lean towards Moorer. I can imagine Morrison wading in like he did against Bent and walking into something big, Moorer could bang at heavyweight.
i think that moorer was the better technical fighter and he would have been up on the cards and then boom!!! morrison would connect a lucky left hook and it would be all over
If Moorer could make it beyond round 4 or 5 when Tommy always gassed hed win, probably by stoppage. If Tommy could draw him into a shootout he has a better chance but even then I dont know if he wins. Tommy had shitty stamina and a weak chin so you could see him losing a number of ways. Moorer had a weak chin but he was pretty good everywhere else so youd have to favor him.
Prior to his fight with George Foreman in late 1994 Moorer was 35-0 (30) overall and 12-0 (11) in world title bouts at LHW and HW. Let's beak that down- At LHW he went 22-0 (22) overall and 10-0 (10) in WBO LHW world title bouts. At HW he was 13-0 (8KO) overall. He had won the vacant WBO HW world title belt (KO5 Bert Cooper) and vacated it. He had just won the WBA and IBF HW world title belts by beating Holyfield (WMD12)... this made Moorer the Lineal HW Champ. He had been down 4 times but never seriously hurt. He was down and out vs. Foreman. He went 4-0 (1) over the next 3 years and 3-0 (1) in IBF HW world title fights. He would lose that title to Holyfield (LTKObyEight) in an exciting fight. Moorer went down 5 times in the rematch with Holyfield but did give him trouble right up until the end. Moorer got up ready to fight after each knockdown but was not allowed to come out for the 9th round. Thru 1994 Morrison's record stood at 41-2-1 (36) overall and 2-1 (1) in WBO HW world title bouts. He had been stopped by Mercer (LKOby5) and he had been stopped by Bentt (LKOby1). He had a draw with Ross Puritty (Morrison was down twice in the fight). Morrison had been down 8 times (Mercer, Williams x2, Bentt x3, and Puritty x2), he had also suffered a broken jaw and a broken hand in his fight vs. Hipp. In 1995 he stopped Ruddock (Morrison was down once) and was stopped by Lewis (Morrison was down several times). I'll take Moorer by decision.
short inside straight shots always dropped Morrison. Morrison loved to throw wide combinations, and load up leaving him open to such shots. Moorer had some of the cleanest, sharpest inside straight shots, with power and he was a south paw. Plus the Moorer jab was able to trouble and break up the tempo off better men. I can see morrison dropping moorer, but I can see Moorer getting up and winning. Pick a round and you have the KO win for Moorer. Morrison is not Tua.
Tough call, it would have its Moorer-Cooper moments. But I see Moorer prevailing. Morrison struggles with the straight south paw shots of Moorer, as they land consistently. I can see Moorer winning by stoppage later in the fight as Morrison slows, and moves his head-shoulders less. Fun fight while it lasts. Moorer late TKO
I think Moorer is the overall better fighter, but Morrison is not the right kind of opponent for him. I think Tommy takes him out, honestly. Michael had a shaky chin, and Tommy a huge punch. Moorer was also a slow starter. I'm guessing Morrison jumps on him, lands first, and ends it.
The same could be said of Morrison's chin and perhaps even to a greater extent. And I wouldn't exactly call a man who's 30 of his 40 stoppages were within five rounds or less a " slow starter."
