Mora says yes to Pavlik

    Sergio Mora was on Wednesday Night Fights this evening. When asked about his future he said he wants to fight the best, and would love to take the Pavlik fight. Someone should tell this fool that a guy whose best wins are over Peter Manfredo and an aging Vernon Forest should stay the hell away from Pavlik.

    It's one thing to say he wants this fight, but has he signed the dotted line for the fight to go on against Kelly? I think Sergio moving up to fight the middleweight champ is a bad move on his part. Kelly will pick him apart and at the end finish him off.

    Let's go ahead and just nix this crap about Mora "moving up." He has 22 fights and exactly one fight took place at 154. the rest happened at middleweight!

    Kelly will kill him, but I will respect the hell out of Mora if he actually took this fight. I was even quite excited when he agreed to fight Vernon and although it was boring he got a well earned win.

    I knew it would! The guy has an ego the size of Rhode Island! I just hope everything works out so we get to see Pavlik/Mora with Abraham/Marquez on the undercard. If that happens, Pavlik and AA will both come away looking like monsters, and that will certainly help hype their fight.

    Sounds logical.

    I don't think Sergio Mora is a bad fighter - not at all. He did defeat Vernon Forrest, who was widely favored. The problem is, I don't really see anything spectacular about Mora. Against Pavlik, he would be boxing a better technician who is much more accurate and powerful. Even with De La Hoya, or Mosley, he would be at a disadvantage.

    I think, if he's serious about being a world class boxer for years to come, he should box Verno Phillips (or Cory Spinks). Then he would stand a chance to improve over time, get a couple of key victories, and maybe become something special. Or not.

    If he wants to do the short term intelligent thing, he takes the money and runs against Kelly Pavlik (I don't think there is any doubt he loses to Pavlik).

    Mora should fight Taylor of even Miranda, just so he can see where he is at (if he wants to fight Pavlik).
