Couldn't find one thread about that fight specifically, even though the fight was announced on the 27th... no hype? Nobody cares about these guys?! Mora is all over the top 10's @ 154, and Vera beat Lee, Miller, Demers... that's a nice main event for ESPN's FNF.

Mora UD Vera... I doubt Vera has the goods to put Mora on his ass, and Mora ain't losing a UD here.

IMO, Martinez will not want to have anything to do with a mando until the end of the year. In March, he's fighting Dzinziruk, Lee or even Pavlik for all we know... sure thing, his people are not looking for a 'losable' fight per say. As long as we're talking marketable, not-so-risky opponents for Maravilla, do you see the winner being a viable AND credible option for Sergio's next voluntary defence (summer '11)?

Don't bring Pac or Money in here. Martinez talks a whole lot of **** about facing the best to be declared the best, but these guys aren't touching Sergio's weight & reach advantage. Not anytime soon anyway.

Boo might step in and mention a potential Pavlik-Mora comeback fight for KP late spring if he's not back before then, but I for one wouldn't mind watching such a matchup. :hey

Mora gets a lot of abuse here but he has put on good shows against forrest and mosely plus, and i dont care what anyone thinks, beating some pretty decent boxers in the first contender. decent match mora vs martinez id say

From the first season of The Contender also. Hardworking gatekeeper type who upset Andy Lee a while back, and knocked out Sebastian Demers a few months ago. Pavlik was supposed to fight him on the Pacquiao-Margarito undercard before he pulled out to go to rehab.

It wouldn't 'warrant' a Martinez fight per say. I talked about a viable and credible opponent for Martinez' summer fight, that's all.

Can you say with absolute certainty that Maravilla is gonna fight MWs, and MWs only throughout 2011? I can't. He's shooting for big 147/154's, so talking about a solid 160 would be refreshing.

**** Mora, they should have suspended his license after the Mosley fight.

I think Mora will probably win a fairly wide, but unimpressive, UD. I say "unimpressive" because I don't think Mora can hurt Vera, and that would mean Vera can keep marching forward throwing those looping haymakers he's fond of, and create the illusion that he is doing better in the fight than he actually is.

The problem with a prediction in a Vera fight is that the crazy ******* does not know he is a club fighter. He always comes to the ring thinking he can win, and that has produced surprising results on more than one occassion.

This should be good fight for Mora to get himself back to 160, which is where he belongs. He only has 3 fights at 154, and he has always said he is more comfortable at 160.

So now we have two ex reality tv stars fighting for a shot at the #2 or #3 p4p (i haven't checked recently) and the WBO middlewieght champ can't get a a shot at Maravilla?

Mora makes for boring fights. You say he put on a good show against Mosley - but he wouldn't even engage Mosley. I have no problem with the Contenders fighting each other - especially on ESPN - but I don't see too many people that interested in this match-up.

Andy Lee should be in there with Vera getting his long awaited revenge :-( Oh well, thats the way the cookie crumbles.

I think the only way Vera can win is by stoppage and Mora can take a punch so I see it as a clear decision for Mora 116-112 or 117-111.

Mora is easy to cut. He seems to get cut in nearly every fight. That's probably the only way Vera would stop him.

Again, I was throwing out there the possibility of Martinez considering the winner for a voluntary defence. An optional one. Break fight. Stay busy fight. That's all it'd be for him, allows him not to have to push hard through the summer. WTF does Pirog have to do with anyone?! The guy is dead inactive. Probably munching whatever the **** the Russians munch on sitting on the couch. :D

Which is key here. Nice quality, good matchup for an ESPN fight. Hoping the undercard is decent.

Yeah. Can you imagine if they did that in 2-3 yrs time from now? Lee murders a damaged Vera. :yep

That's a fair point actually. I didn't take that into consideration.

I'll be rooting for Vera so it would make for an interesting rematch against Lee in the next fight. I'd be rooting for him regardless because is a tough fighter who makes the most of what he has, but being a Lee fan gives me that bit more incentive to hope for a Vera upset.
