Forrest is the strangest fighter because whenever I go for him, he loses, and whenever I hope he gets KO'd, he puts on his greatest performance. I think he will beat Mora this time.
Everyone was predicting Forrest by clear and easy win. There were plenty of threads making jokes of this matchup. People talking about stuff like how people feared for the safety of Forrest because he was fighting the "Latin Snake". No one gave Mora a chance.
If there's a just and loving god, Vernon Forrest. So count on another split decision win for the Sssssssssssssssnake.
I agree, being that I do not gamble I did not reap the benfits of that wager however one of my buddies took my advice and won big on that fight and now that he knows that Sergio is th underdog again he is gonna pony-up more chips this go around
as you should cause if you need further proof of sergio destroying manfredo "convincingly" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSFCbaYPZ1U
I think that Mora respected the old man too much the last time, but now since the last press conference all that respect is gone and many of you do not know what the snake can do when he loses respect for an opponent
like who who are you sick of? did you forget that all of these men are professional fighters and were before all of this contender stuff? they are just using the name to generate more pub for themselves and it is all for $ but these guys (some of them) are really good fighters and Sergio is the best bar-none
I think Mora will win an easier decision this time around and might even stop Forrest who looked to have tired, old legs. I don't think it's probable that Mora will score a devastating KO but likely one of those tko's where the old man just doesn't have anything else to give and stays on the stool after several rounds of a thumping. Mora will never remind anyone of the second coming of Julian Jackson but I do think he punches better than his record indicates. He's not a hard puncher per se but he does throw hard punches if that makes any sense. I think Mora will be more confident this time around and will begin working the body on Forrest earlier and will win a clear decision or a late-round, stay-on-your-stool type of stoppage.
since the idea of Forrest being stopped by Mora was brought up, wasn't there a moment in the Baldo / Forrest fight where it looked like Baldomir had Forrest vulnerable? Not badly hurt, but Baldo was coming on, finally breaking through a bit and then the ref came in for some reason. Maybe I am hallucinating this and too many fights in my brain are bleeding into each other. Forrest looked good dismantling Piccirillo but many think he was given a gift vs Quartey. If you go with that line of thought than Vernon hasn't defeated an elite fighter in over six years (Mosley / Forrest 2) and however many shoulder operations ago. I write all this with this tentative conclusion in mind: maybe we shouldn't assume his comeback resume is proof he is back to where he was....and maybe Mora is a guy that only jumps a little bit above the hurdle and sometimes tips it over (i.e. SD's and Draws) on the way up (Ayala, Manfredo 2, Ishe Smith). Mora finds a way to impress the judges and has never come out a loser even in the very close ones, plus he has height like Forrest does, who isn't used to that in an opponent. One thing on Forrests side is that his back is clearly and comletely up agains the wall. There are no tomorrows. If Mora loses, well, he went one and one with a boxing star, he still comes out ahead judging on where his rep or lack of a strong one was before the fight. Vernon has to, he MUST, win this fight, at his age there is no time to reset. Even so though, I think he was motivated and walled in the first time plenty and still came up short. I still like Mr Snake to take a decision - and he should be coming in with a lot of confidence of the first one.
