just rewatched the fight like 2-3 weeks ago, it ain't forgotten:huh. c'mon now erik had been in many hellacious wars much before pacman (zaragosa, mccullough, first espadas fight, barrera) i think he lost his peak after the raheem fight, his timing was off as was his speed, but he still manage to hurt raheem with right hands, but raheem outboxed him badly while erik wanted to fight instead, like he wasn't thinking and not focused. it was also around that time when he was having personal problems and his personality went from boxing nice guy to outspoken and dissing the other fighters, a 180. he just was not the same fighter, and that's because i'm not a fan of his, but his wars and bravery get my respect
everyone knows it was great. I think a lot of people remember it (round 12 especially) for the show that let everyone who didn't know about morales know what kind of a warrior he was...and for every boxing fan, a last look at what a great technical boxer he truly was
Is that what they're calling Pacman now? I'm no ******* (unless I'm dating a pinay at the time), but I think he had something or another to do with Morales being beaten. Just like how the only excuse for Manny losing the first fight is that Morales was the better man.
It doesn't get the same acclaim as Barrera vs MOrales 1 because it wasn't as much ofa surprise. THis was a highly anticipated, multi million dollar PPV fight against the 2 top guys at that weight class. It was supposed to be everything that it was. You tuned in expecting a great fight and got a great fight. Barrera vs Morales was a bit of a sleeper. Both of those guys were sorta fighting in hameds shadow and it was a B.A.D fight if I remember correctly. It was to bea good fight but nowhere near as much aniticipation. You tuned in expecting a good fight and got an great fight.
this is one of my favorite among morales classics (and of course pac). I can say he left everything in the ring for this match, and at the same time it was a loss pac has nothing to be ashamed of.
forgotten my shiny ass. this was one of the best fights my eyes ever laid on. i can only imagine what a war it would have been if pac didnt suffer from that nasty cut which had blood running to his eye
It's one pound! Yeah Pacquiao might not have been the fighter he is now but Morales wasn't the same fighter he had been during that fight too.
Morales put on an amazing display for this fight. He lead from start to finish and there was never any doubt who would win this fight.
I watched it a lot of times and I am like :huh:huh at people who said Morales dominated Pac. It was a damn close fight which I can definitely score a win for Pac. I have posted my scorecards here before with a detailed account of punches landed for each round. A draw would have been absolutely justifiable. I am 1000% convinced that if Pac wore the Reyes gloves in that fight and if he did not sustain that super nasty cut around the 5th round, Pac wold have koed Morales late in that fight. The outcome would have been ery similar to the rematch. Cuts bother Pac, see the Sanchez fight. It was definitely a huge factor in the fight.
It was definitely the best fight of their trilogy, and round 12 is an all time great round of boxing. It encapsulates the two fighters so perfectly.
