Morales was P4P#6...Pac wasn't...Nobody should discredit morales win against pac, and should you not discredit pacs win against morales!!! Fair enough???:good
It was Morales' last hurrah. It was a fight where both boxers were competetive but which Morales clearly dominated. Pac was an emerging but still one-dimensional fighter and Morales was near the twilight of his prime. Great contrast wherein their respective levels almost intersect. Still a helluva war, exciting and entertaining.
If you meant that Morales was a little past his prime, and pac wasn't even prime level yet....so that would even the odds....so no excuses necessary....Pac and Morales official record is 1-1 IMO...3rd fight was like just an exhibition match..:good
I agree with this statement. Pacquiao was not yet prime and Morales summoned his last great performance. Cagey veteran beats green fighter. Pacquiao improved, grew into 130, and Morales lost another step. Prime phenom beat the slightly past it veteran. The third fight, Morales was GONE, and Pac was now firmly entrenched in his absolute peak. It shouldnt be used against Morales or for Pacquiao. They both had one tremendous win against fighters that werent quite in their greatest forms. Morales from the first fight vs. Pacquiao from the third fight would have been the best 130 fight ever.
great fight. i remember being at the edge of my seat throughout the entire proceedings. the 12th round was boxing nirvana, it encapsulated everything i love about the sport; violence, skill and drama. ALSO people should'nt forget that arce-hussein was the undercard for this fight which was also ****ing epic.
Exactly. Morales came in at 140 on fight night, while Pac came in at 139. Opposed to Barrera, who in his third fight with Morales came in at 132, while Morales came in at 143. An 11 pound disadvantage didn't affect Marco, so why should a one pound disadvantage affect Pacquiao?
I give alot of credit to Morales for that performance like i said before it was an absolutely great performance. It would take nothing less to pull off that kind of win, regardless of the circumstances... Credit given where credit is due. Morales is a great fighter.
An amazing performance from EM. A truly great fight. Pacquiao has been getting steadily better ever since that incredible night in '03 when he performed complete and utter domination on Barrera. The Pacquiao of the Marquez fight last year dismantles the best Erik at 130 even easier than he did in their 2nd fight (I don't count the 3rd, Morales was a shadow by then). Morales's peak was 122 and 126, Pac's was 130 (and will prove to be higher). So I don't think an absolute peak v peak fight can really be considered hypothetically. Anyway, back to the matter at hand: Morales deserved the win, great performance, great win, great fight. 2nd fight was a beauty too.
Don't forget the wildcard factor of the socks. Is there anybody who isn't bothered by getting cut? I'm still boggled by EM's corner massaging his legs in the 3rd fight. :think Not like it was a gigantic factor, but he'd at least have been able to fall down a bit more gracefully.
Yes. JMM for instance fights exactly the same way when he is cut or not. Pac having an aggressive offensive style becomes cautious and more selective in offense when he is cut.
damn, i thought this is a tribute thread. it just turned into another pac bashing thread...again... ****ing haters
