Erik Morales at 34 gave young Maidana a great fight and Erik isnt even 100 per cent, after coming back from long break he has just looked better and better in his comeback fights. Ok he lost the decision to Maidana but if Morales gets re match, this time the ring rust would have lessened even more so he will be sharper, his stamina will be better, and he wont get caught early and injure himself. I can see El Terrible takin Maidana out in 4 rounds, breaking the young lads ribs! THEN KHAN IS NEXT!
I can accept the draw, but there's no way Maidana won. Morales deserved the decision. At only 34 Morales can do this for a couple more years yet, I think he has plenty left for any of the best Lightweight / Junior Welters out there. I want to see Bradley or Marquez next.
bull****. learn to put sentiment aside when you judge a fight. even morales said he thought maidana probably won before kellerman put it in his head that he might've. Anyone thinking Morales has any chance against the likes or Khan and Marquez are kidding themselves. He can only fight for half of every round now and those guys won't let him off the hook or give him opportunities like Maidana did. boxing fans today are some fanatical and hysterical creatures
Morales was not suffering from ring rust, that was not his first bout back from "retirement". That was undoubtedly his best performance since his comeback though. I'll have to score it, but I thought he deserved a draw, seemed a very easy bout to score.
:good Morales by a round but its nothing to get worked up about. Maidana finished strong and the urgency shown in the last two round was probably enough for him to take a close decision and for that to be fair.
he was robbed 116- 112 twice? lies i gave maidana five rounds including last two and definetly first how any judge could score that four rounds to maidana is blatantly corrupt
Two points for Maidana was too far; I agree. 115-113 is the furthest it can stretch for Maidana. It can just about stretch that far though (although I feel the draw hits the nail on the head). In such a case, the term robbery doesn't apply. The term "two bad scorecards" does. :good
I had it 115-113 to Morales. Plain and simple he landed the cleaner shots through the whole fight. Maidana was made to look clumsy and crude and even in rounds when he easily out worked Morales he wasn't connecting properly. How two judges had Maidana winning by 4 rounds, i'll never know.
Morales' performance against Maidana was incredible and I scored it a draw. I can't however see him having much to trouble Khan. He drew the fight but won the event, some might say.
