Peak Morales was 122-126, that's why he's held in high regard as a 122lber. Usually Wilfredo Bazooka Gomez is widely known as the best 122lber of all time with Erik a close second. You could easily see Erik's right rivaled Manny's left, but by the time Morales was at 130 you can tell he lost some of the sting which is considered normal going up in weight. He also had countless wars behind him by the time he fought Pacquiao. By that time he was well known for being an exceptional boxer who threw boxing out the window and loved to go toe to toe. He outboxed Manny, but at the sametime went toe to toe with him. Once he went up in weight again and lost to Zahir Raheem in a huge upset, all due respect to Raheem, Erik should of won that fight, Erik still had some power in his right, but had trouble pulling the trigger. He got wobbled by Raheem, not a puncher, worse than when he got wobbled by MAB. He tried to lure Raheem into a brawl, but it never happened and hurt Raheem with some right hands, but it was too late. In interviews he also went from gentleman to cranky, foul mouthed trash talker as it was a known fact he was going through many personal problems. That shouldn't be an excuse, but we are all human and people just take stuff differently. Fact is Morales just wasn't the same after the Raheem fight. Had he beat Raheem and then Pacquiao do what he did it would be a different story and more power to the Pacman.

Personally I think Morales benefited from this fight being at 130 as he looked significantly bigger and stronger than Pacquiao on that night. Pac had only had three fights after moving up from 122lbs to 126lbs and didn't have any fights to get adjusted to another move up in weight to 130.

Not a peak Morales , but still very good and put on a great performance . He outsmarted and somewhat exposed a very one raw, one dimensional pacquiao at the time. The fight wasn't one-sided like people make it out to be though. It was a tough, back and forth scrap, but Morales deserved the win.

    Pacquiao stops Morales at 126.

Maybe he can last the distance due to his amazing chin but Pacquiao would put the beats on him like he did to Barrera in 2003.

Morales 6-1 at featherweight with his best wins being 8-4 type decisions against In Jin Chi and Ayala and really didn't look impressive against lower tier fighters like Espadas.

fact is if Morales shows up like that against Pacquiao (he surely wouldn't have) he gets KTFO

That was like 80-85% of prime Morales. But at least he had all his red blood cells with him that night and correct gloves. Correct socks too if you want to be picky.

It was all about the socks. That was the biggest obstacle Pac had to overcome. Look at what happened when he had the right socks in the rematches.

he wasn't moving up in weight, like Pacquiao was.

also he didn't get a nasty cut above the eye early in the fight, like Pacquiao did.

but those things don't matter anyways. Pac got schooled cause he has no skills.

What are you talking about man. Morales was shot, drained, unmotivated and mentally pressured by Roach and Arum in the rematch. Don't ya know. Morales was the most shot 29 year old boxer of all time. That's the only reason Pacquiao knocked him out.

coming from a guy who says Morales was past his prime when Pac knocked him out... how ironic.

    typical ESB double-standards against Pac
