I've just seen a tiny highlight of Eric Morales' return to the ring last night. And although I'm impressed he pulled off a UD after such a long time away from the sport, he didn't look in the best of shape at 147lbs, or whatever the weight limit was. I hadn't seen much coverage or promotion of the bout, I had just been reading interviews, etc. I read an interview yesterday before the bout were Morales was talking about a possible fourth bout with Pacquiao. I don't think this would be a smart decision on Morales part. Welterweight is too high of a weight class for Morales, he still looked big around the waist even though he had lost all that weight. In my opinion, if he is serious about this comeback, and looking at fighting for World Titles again, he needs to drop a few more pounds. If he could get back down to 135lbs I think that would be perfect, but with Morales not getting any younger, 140lbs may be his only option.
If he can step up the class of his oposition and still win, I wouldn't mind seeing him fight JMM at 140lbs. That would be a great fight and the final chapter of the great fights between four warriors.
his body def looked different than other welterweights no muscle definition at all. with all the world class training in the world that he could get his hands on to get a better body and he looks like that?
Yeah definitely...but like you said, he has to step up his opposition and it's not like the 140 weight division is struggling for prospects and stars at the minute, all looking to prove there the best. It's going to be hard for Morales!
Yeah, I don't want to see him against any prospects, really. They are all too physical, whether it be speed or strength. I think he could have a great fight with JMM though.
I never expected him to look like he did before he retired, but I also didn't expect him to look that undefined. I think the main reason for this was that he may have left too short a time to lose all the weight, leaving him looking a little thick around the waist. Im expecting him to look in better shape next time around, no matter what weight the contest will be at.
Well like I said...I only seen a small highlight of it, and he looked very slow. I'd expect JMM to give any 140lbs trouble if not beat them even now, so that would be risky for Morales...you never know though Mexican pride could push them both to a great bout.
I didn't catch this fight but i was very interested in it being an El Terrible fan. IMO Morales at this stage in his career will not be able to fight under the 140lb limit. But 140 seems to be the target weight for him if he can muster getting down to it. I wish Erik all the best on his comeback trail. He is a great champion and warrior, who gave his all every fight.IMO he gave some of the best fights in the history of the sport.Good luck Morales...

EM needs a couple of more tune up fights before even thinking about fighting the elite. I would love to see a JMM/EM bout in the very near future. The only way EM can get a fight w/ MP is if he decides to come back and have a tune up fight before fighting FMJ.
Erik admitted that he needed one more test before fighting real competition. He also mentioned that he needs to lose his spare tire and fight at 140. Erik did look like his old self... still it was a good fight and I have to give credit to Erik for putting on a show.
He always puts on a show (Raheem fight excluded) Im glad he knows he must get in better shape before stepping up in class, thats good news, he seems serious about this 4th title.
