Now don't bring up PPV numbers or revenue generated because you have to account for inflation and the population during that period. People weren't paying $65 for see a fight on PPV nor were there 300+ million people in the U.S.

Just purely from a fan's perspective, which fight generated more buzz before it happened?

Boxing meant more to the general public and had a much higher profile than it does today.

Hearns/Leonard. Boxing was more popular in America back then and boxers got a lot of exposure on free TV, ABC, NBC and CBS.

Leonard / Hearns - no question.

Everyone knew who they were back then. Ask 10 random people who the big matchup in WW is nowadays, and the majority won't even be able to name one of them, let alone both.

Pac and Mayweather are household names pretty much. Like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, maybe slightly less but not much.

I dont know about that man...not in the households I know.

I think Money vs Pac will go alongside the biggest fights in history in terms of hype and revenue...maybe not quite on their level in terms of historical significance but I think you could mention them in the same sentence without a doubt.

These two going at is going to be huge..You can compare this to the biggest hyped, marketed fight in history and that itself is an acclompishment of its own

I was watching HBO Legendary Nights for the Leonard/Hearns fight and they said that Leonard earned $12 million for that fight, which was the most money that any athlete had ever earned for an event up until that point in time. That includes any sport.

I watched the Hagler - Hearns - Leonard generation with my mum and dad when I was 10-11 yrs old. I don't see too many families settling down in front of free-to-air TV nowadays watching boxing. Boxing was huge back in the 80's.
