Same as back then: early training footage for Tunney 1. Filmed out west (Colorado I believe) housed at the University of South Carolina.

I'm still looking for a link that works for the footage posted a year ago with Dempsey sparring with Jamaica Kid. Does anyone know where someone could glimpse that on the internet? Thx

Thanks so much. It's much appreciated, I had never seen the Jamaica kid sparring footage before. Jamaica kid was dwarfed by Dempsey I wonder if that was for the Carpentier fight, to chase down a smaller man?

I have seen the Tate footage and Dempsey looks fantastic in that sparring session. Outside of the Willard fight, and only because it's an actual fight, it's the best representation on film of Dempsey's tremendous foot speed, and his elusiveness when bending at the waste. Terrific stuff. Thanks again.

No problem. The Jamaica Kid footage is from his training camp for the Willard fight.

Was he ever taught not to follow guys into their right hands but rather to cut off the ring? I guess it doesn't hurt when your sparring partners are welters.

He would never have made it as a professional.
