[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzH0NtiM_oA&feature=related[/ame] Brutal KO. I think Breland and Co. don't want Wilder to bumrush he is rather weak opposition. He easily can employ that strategy but you see that he waits back a lot of the round and works the jab (which is has improved a lot since his pr debut).
This is getting embarrassing. His opponent was Dan Sheehan a 37 year old cruiserweight weighing 204lbs and standing 5′ 10″ tall, with 11 wins and 39 losses! I was just about to ask if Deontay Wilder would fight Tyson Fury as the perfect opportunity has just presented itself. Wilder has a fight Vs TBA on February 19. Fury has been training with Emanuel Stewart in the US. He was due to fight Botha on Febuary 19 in England but the British Boxing Board of Control won't allow Botha to fight there. After watching this video I no longer need to ask. I am shocked that Deontay is still fighting guys of this caliber. Of course he needs to learn but he is quickly becoming a joke IMO.
I agree that his opponents are a joke and he is past due to move up in class, but I think the feelings of his camp are that if he were to move up and fight say a Tyson Fury, and win, that he would then be rushed due to being American and looking like a "champion" and they would end up wasting what they have. I think they want to wait on the Klitschko's to be long gone before they make any kind of move. As weak as the division is percieved to be, any promising prospect is going to be rushed and eventually crushed. I don't agree with their plan per se' but I can't argue with it either. Imagine if he were to beat Fury and say...Arreola, you would have people trying to rush him into a Klitschko fight and he would be crushed before he really even got started. Either way, I understand your point, and I agree 100%, it's time to step it up for sure. I really like the kid and I think he has some legitimate tools and could be a real threat down the road.
I could understand the outrage on this kid, but, he is still learning the game. He was lucky to survive being almost KO by Sconiers before this fight. I ain't too high on Breland, but, u can see they are taking their time with the kid.
He was suppose to fight Botha but the BBBC didn't approve it. kevin Johnson called him out today. that would be an interesting test for Steward's protege.
i said last year that i think fury and wilder should fight each other i cant remember who but someone said fury was not ready ,personally i think more young prospects as they are called should fight each other
lol @ the guy getting dancing around and being put on his back a few seconds later. But I agree with others...it's one thing to go slow but I don't see how fighting this level of competition is doing him much good.
You know this had to be going through Deontay's head during the fight. "Okay let me just let this go for a few rounds like we planned, i'll try to fight at range and everything." dude starts dancing "Oh. you dun goofed mutha****a."
Amusing KO. But the difference in class is laughable. Deontay needs to step up. This is embarrassing.
Wilder will make a good journeyman/gatekeeper for upcoming European heavyweights. His style will present issues that these young Eurotalents can learn from
Yeah, this fight was in Lafayette, La. at the Hilton ( I can see my big ass head in the background). Keep 'em coming.
