The article on the frontpage got me thinking, this is what it says:

I just don't get this at all.

Going on the last 5 fights then Froch is much, much more deserving of a place in the P4P top 10. And he arguably did a better job on Abraham than Ward did.

Having said that I can't see how either of them are P4P top ten, really, although i think if Froch beats Johnson he's definitely on the fringes.

Froch definitely. You can only rank pound for pound on achievement in my opinion (otherwise it's just bias and personal opinion)

"Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler (loss), Abraham"
    is better than
    "Pudwill, Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham"

Especially considering all 5 of those wins for Ward were in his home town. 3 of the 5 for Froch were either away or at a neutral venue.

I would personally based on opposition, but the defeat against Kessler comes into it.

I'd guess their results against Kessler will have a big impact on how Ward and Froch are rated against each other.

Hopefully we get the answer to this question in the super 6 final.

They are so close, but Ward beating Kessler so easily was a fantastic win. Froch has been workmanlike in his approach, with a solid win over Pascal, who has gone on to better things, as well as a competitive fight with Kessler himself. He has shown his versatility (or moreso discipline) against Abraham as well, a fight that appeared geared stylistically towards the Armenian banger.

But you chaps know how highly I regard good performances in losses to top opposition, so you're going to be surprised that I would put Ward just inside the P4P top ten, with Froch being 10 or 11 probably.

Froch beats Johnson soundly and he could leapfrog Ward again, that's another tough opponent.

Let's be honest, they're building towards a relative superfight. It's Wards brilliance Vs Frochs will, and as much as a mismatch as it seems, the run Froch has been on, he deserves to be 50-50 going into it. The two fighters have had different progressions through what has been a real different gauntlet for each men (Ward has faced some real bruisers, Froch more technical or flashy types) and have both had the best preparationfor the best in their division in those respective fields.

Froch is the best grinder at 168 right now, Ward the best all-rounder. This will be a great fight, assuming that Froch gets past Johnson. The real answer as to who is more deserving will be found in the final hopefully, the winner there will cement themselves amongst the P4P Elite, believe it or not by facing the best in their division.

Hmmm, Froch losing 8-4 to Kessler and Ward shutting him out is a pretty good reason in itself to rank Ward above him. Doesn't take a genius to work that one out. Ward also matched Froch's best win last night.

Bit of a difference though. Froch went to Denmark to fight Kessler whereas Ward made him travel 6 thousand miles just to get his face cut to pieces by headbutts.

Well you must be special needs if that is the case, what don't you get?

Ward won nearly every minute of every round against Kessler who was the defending champ while Froch got beat by the same guy, then Frochs best win was just matched by Ward last night. :huh

So you can throw both the Kessler fights out of the window when ranking Ward and Froch?

The difference was Froch went to hell and back with Kessler and Ward make him look clueless, the fact of the matter is Ward beat him easily Froch got beat, I am not having a go at Froch but there the facts where the fights were etc etc does not come into it. Froch Lost and Ward won.

Thats just a load of biased nonsense IMO. Fighting in California didn't make Kessler get outmaneuvered to that extent and the headbutts were not anywhere close to the reason he lost.

So if Nonito Donaire fought Carl Froch as a SMW Froch would beat him because he's acheived more ??? " the P4P theory "

P4P can be biased , but is not always based on resume , it cant be :deal

Maybe not but it's got to be taken into consideration in my opinion.

It's a close one, I think we can all agree on that and hopefully will be decided by the end of the year in the super six final.

Would Ward have beaten Kessler so decisively if he had to go to Denmark? Probably not in my opinion. Would Froch have beaten Kessler in Nottingham? Yeah I think he would have.

Would Froch have beaten Dirrell in America.. maybe he wouldn't have. Would he beat Pascal in Canada? Again arguably not.
