Which one do you think is more embarrassing? Imo the answer is clear but I just thought the similarities of these fights was interesting. Heavyweight champion ducking a better challenger by fighting someone with a 0-0 record in pro bouts. They get knocked down but end up pulling out with the win.

Ngannou's was probably slightly less embarassing. He has always had huge power and is a bear of a man, and similarly sized to Fury, things like that can happen. That said, Patterson's overall performance was definitely the less embarassing of the 2. Rademacher was an Olympic gold medalist, and had a good 15 lbs on Patterson, but after the KD, he got beaten silly, and dropped 6 times, and stopped in the 6th round. Whereas Fury arguably lost the fight against a debuter who never even had an amateur fight.

Ngannou dropping Fury is only comparable to Tony Galento knocking down Joe Louis in terms of embarrassment

Galento vs Louis immediately came to mind when Fury got dropped. Crazy that A guy like Galento could do that to a Louis who was as technically sound as it gets.

I'll go with the Fury knockdown.

He was not facing youthful reflexes in this. Nope. He was facing the reflexes of a 37 year old trying a new sport. What other physical sports you putting a not even novice guy in against a percieved champion and having him do well?

How's this even a question? At least Rademacher (and Galento) were proper professional boxers.

Tony is something of a running joke, but he was a hard-hitting veteran of over a hundred bouts. The aura of silly only made him more dangerous and not taken seriously.

The point should be made that Galento was a professional boxer, with more than seventy fights to his name, ranked in the top ten by Ring Magazine at the time.

Not quite in the same category.

Galento was ranked as the number one challenger though.

Except it really is n't though. Whatever you might think of Galento's ability or the fight itself he was an experienced fighter who had been fighting professionally for I think almost a decade. How is that comparable to an athlete (albeit a very talented and tough one) from a totally different sport making his pro debut? Could you explain how it's comparable?

An additional detail Louis had also been rattled by Galento's racist harassment and abusive comments about his wife - he was fighting angry and not focused.

Ngannou by far atleast Rademacher had boxing experience and was an Olympic Gold Medallist.

Ngannou is 37 years old making his pro boxing debut in a fight alot of people think he won.

Outside of flash knockdowns from Galento and Rademacher both Louis and Patterson battered them into submission after that.

Fury run away from an MMA fighter after being dropped like a sack of potatoes embarrassing.....

Ngannou ate Fury's elbows like they were nothing because of his previous professional fighting experience, Mike Tyson thinks he is the hardest puncher out there, so what's worse being considered by many fans of the sport the #1-#2 heavyweight of all time and getting caught by Galento, or being considered by many fans of the sport one of the worst heavyweight champs and getting caught by probably the hardest puncher currently in combat sports

Because the skill difference is on that same level, and both were knocked down by fighters who weren't even on the same atmosphere as them. You can actually argue Francis has better fundamentals than Tony. (not much of an accomplishment)

On paper it looks worse for Fury considering Francis was on his debut, and that Tony had been a boxer for years. But Francis also has better fundamentals than Tony, and likely a good chunk of his opponents as well

'An additional detail Louis had also been rattled by Galento's racist harassment and abusive comments about his wife - he was fighting angry and not focused.'

True, but in that case we also have to mention how Fury was far from top form himself. He's never performed highly at 277 pounds, IMO he seemed to have just hopped off the couch. Both Fury and Louis weren't 100%

So you consider a fighter with a decade's professional experience the same as someone with no amateur experience making his pro-debut? My point about the harassment is that it was said to have affected how Louis fought. The point is that once Louis saw how he was fighting up on the night he was able to change tack and absolutely battered Galento. Was Fury able to?

All credit to Ngannou for how well he did. It was a major accomplishment. I did not see the fight so cannot say which fundamentals he did or did not display. Which do you think he showed that were better?

The most embarrassing knockdown I’ve ever seen, will people stop ridiculously hailing Fury as the ATG heavyweight?
