Fighters today earn far more money so the need to fight more often is simply not there, then when you factor in the PPV sales with the top fighters that is more revenue coming in and this is protected as such by fighting less often, this prestige enhancement to there salary’s would sharp lose interest for the paying fans if there fighter was fighting multiple times a year instead of the once a year we are becoming accustomed to .
I'd argue that the sports biggest cancer is the damage that is incurred during a fighters career and the telling affects that show up years after the fighters retirement.
Where did I say it was a problem ? I said modern fighters have the luxury option of fighting less if they so wish due to bigger purses and PPV sales compared to fighters in the past. Opetaia is keeping himself busy which is commendable but even then 1 fight in 2020 1 fight in 2021 1 fight in 2022 2 fights in 2023 2 fights in 2024 3 fights in 2025 is busier than most today but still only 10 fights in 5 years which I’m sure you will agree is poor compared to fighters of the past .
