I was gonna get a pair of bag gloves but then I was reading a bit more about it and apparently they aren't as good as just getting sparring/training gloves. Is this true?

I have picked a few pairs but are there any you guys would recommend that are below £100?

Or I was also thinking that because they are the same price and I would only be using them for the bags and pad work then I could get these because they would be really high quality.

And I could use those when I finally get a fight, or are they too small?

Thoughts? Particularly from guys like BrownBomber

Pick up sparring gloves. If you use bag gloves, you can only really use them only on the speed-bag or the double end bag.

They won't let you use your own Adidas gloves in contests, you may use a pair of Adidas but it will you'll be given new ones to wear.

If you are looking for do it all pair of gloves (training, sparring + pads etc) then pick up a 16oz pair. Big enough to spar in, heavy enough to train with and everything else.

If you take your gloves off a lot during sessions (partner work with pads) then consider the hook and loop style. Out of the Rival gloves, personally I would go with the lace ups. Give you much better protection and only £10 more, bit of a headache to put on but most coaches don't mind in my experience. If you are training seriously, hand safety is paramount. Always remember that when buying gloves.

Cheers mate and welcome to the forum :good

I'm really tempted by those bottom pair of Adidas ones. They are the official Olympic ones so they would good quality I imagine or are they an overpriced waste of money.

I'm leaning towards either of those Rivals if not the Olympic ones though.

By the way, I have been training for year now so you don't need to tell me the basic stuff

No probs, if you are looking for olympic style I would go with Green Hill gloves, also AIBA licensed so they are up to the same standard as the Adidas gloves but a little cheaper (£70) at www.greenhillboxing.co.uk

Hmm, We have a pair of Green Hills in the gym but I dunno I don't really like them. They are quite an old pair but I dunno, I just don't like the way they feel on my hand. Maybe because they are disgusting

I was looking also at the Top Ten AIBA ones so its between those ones and the Adidas if I go for Olympic style gloves but I was going with Adidas because they are the new Olympic 2012 ones so I figured they'd be better. Maybe not though.

Are they your Winning gloves in your AV?

i got a pair of rival a few weeks ago and very happy with results. i also got the everlast Ergo Foam Leather Training Gloves and title platinum paramount. The everlast gloves suck and the title gloves are really good on the hands. Only used them a couple times so its hard to get a good review until a few months has passed but so far very pleased with the title and rival.

All gloves received were not puncher type of glove and offered a lot of protection for the hands.

Yes are they. 18oz lace up. Very expensive but worth every penny IMO.

I have the Rivals in 14 and they are "sleek", i.e., hard and compact. I would not recommend them for a person with hand problems unless you had SOFT bags.

Quality construction though. They are some beautiful gloves.
