More impressive achievement: Mayweather's 43-0 or Marciano's 49-0??

Marciano did something that has been done before or since, 60 years later.

Floyd is awsome but too. Resume wise I say they are the same.

If Floyd will be as famous as Maricano in 60 years I dont know...

This post sums up your entire boxing knowledge.

You don't have a clue about this sport if you genuinely believe that

Joe Louis was past prime but was giving a good fight to Marciano until his legs gave out, according to Joe's autobiography. From what I see of the fight, it looked like Rocky was slowly dominating Joe until the KO.

Walcott was perhaps the tougher fight for Rocky as he had better leges than Joe.

Main point is, Rocky had the tougher competition as a lighter and smaller HW.

Both impressive. Marciano was late to boxing however, started in the army I think. Had most of his fights prior to the title fight in just a few years time. Its a pretty impressive accomplishment that may never be repeated. Mayweather was an amateur star, and has continued to be dominant for many years.
Both equally impressive to me, but for different reasons. Any man to never lose in the ring on that level, its quite amazing.

marciano retired pretty early, he was 33 yrs old. had he went on to fight later like other fighters he probably would have not remained undefeated. lets see if money may can put a few more wins on his resume and then we could talk.

Why is the thread alive? Why are we comparing a heavyweight from the 50's to a guy who fights in the 2000's who never went past 154?

    / thread

Don't know why Marciano didn't just line up a can for his 50.

Cause he wanted to fight the best, and at that time he was battling back problems and figured it be best to retire.

    True G status.

    Mayweather

Boxing was even more corrupt than it is now during Marciano's time.
