Agree about Reid, he won the rest imo. Ottke was not have bad when he was younger, when his bounce and workrate started to drop, he became hittable. Before that he was quite elusive and nimble. Ottke gets underrated, Larsen for instance threw a lot of shots but did not actually get through very much.

Sorry, but this cannot be easily overlooked. Sven Ottke was a cheating twat who does not deserve to be in the same poll as Joe Calzaghe.
His reign as "champ" was dependant on blatant skullduggery. It got so bad at one point an opponent was not even allowed to punch him (Robin Reid).
Joe has beaten all of his opponents fair and square, and to be honest they were better opponents at the top end, and he looked better doing it.

Don't be such a crybaby just because you don't agree.:|

Or should I start saying that you are tugging Calzaghe's balls? Which actually would be more true. The question was about the best record. Not who the best boxer was or who got more gifts (Ottke).

But you can also level dubious stoppages against Calzaghe (Mitchell, Sheika (both of whom had decent power) and to a lesser extent Mafredo) - meanwhile Reid got close to Joe. It's not as cut and dry as you seem to make out if one looks at it on paper. I'm sure everyone will agree that Joe was the better all round boxer but Sven was crafty and decent.

I still think Joe's ahead but it's not as simple as you seem to make it. And if he loses to Kessler, there's even an arguement that they're about the same.

I agree and if you see my post above, I'm not saying it because I disagree with you. I actually think it's fairly close on paper.

the thing is at least two of those 'left-overs' did actually beat Ottke so in theory he was fighting the IBF champ.Mitchell beat Ottke and Calzaghe KO'ed him in 2 rounds, pretty impressive.I think Ottke's robbery's over the years actually hurt Calzaghe's image in America just as much as Ottke's.

Calzaghe easily, Ottke will never be an atg even though he defended his title many times.

Ottke should apologise for that fight. Awful to see someone be the victim of such cold hearted cynicisim. No regard for fairplay. Ottke should be so ashamed of himself.:-(
He brought boxing into disrepute and should never be forgiven unless he asks for it.

At this point, I picked Ottke, on pure paper resume. His is more impressive, not by much though.

After Kessler the edge goes to Joe, assuming he beats him.

I think people are too hard on both of the guy, well, maybe no Ottke, who honestly should where the "bad decision" moniker instead of Jermaine Taylor, who atleast fought close, and never robbed ANYONE of a fight.

Ottke had some flat out robberies.

...but we're talking pure paper resume.. Ottke.

It is; LARSEN - but nevermind! The sad thing is that he could have been even better than Kessler if it weren´t for his complicated personality.......:-(
