More impressive record: Sven Ottke or Joe Calzaghe

I can sympathise with that. He was obviously aware of all the shenanigans going on when he was champ and still decided to rip off his fellow boxers. Shame on him.

 

Perhaps we could forgive him if he fought in an honourable way, but he didn't. Whenever his opponent started to get to him, he would gesture to the ref to intervene, and always got his way.
What happened to Robin Reid was terrible, I kept hopin Reid would lose his rag, smash Sven's face in and flatten the bent ref. A terrible thing to say, but it made my blood boil.

 

Sevn lost 2 fights, The first Brewer fight and also Reid. Joe is a better fighter and had a better record.

don't get me wrong Sevn was a very good fighter.

 

We will never know for sure, ofcause - but Larsen was stronger, hit harder and he´s a southpaw and in his younger days he showed just as much ring generalship as Kessler, on accasions when he was mentally fit. Look how he threw away a victory against Ottke - it was painful to watch! Larsen often thought he was so good that he didn´t even had to work on being succesful - and he completely lacked any sense of humbleness. He had all the tools it takes to become really great, he just wasted it!

 

No he couldn't. If Larsen had went to Australia as WBA champ instead of Kessler the title would have belonged to Mundine today. Remember it was Larsen who didn't want to face Kessler after Kessler had taken Larsens shot at the title, not the other way around. I wonder why. Perhaps Larsen, who often sparred with Kessler back then, knew how such a fight would turn out.

 

Larsen wasn't stronger, he fought a lot of guys that made him look strong, but look at how he did when he stepped up just a bit against the limited Haussler, he never managed to put Haussler to the canvas something several other SMW's have managed including Larsens old stablemate Markussen.

 

Calzaghe. Easy decision.

Even without Kessler's name to his resume, Calzaghe has still beaten the better opponents.

 

Meeting Kessler will surpass Ottke's, imho. Svens resume is underestimated, but having Kessler goes a long way.

Questions will arise however, should Kessler anihilate JC - but I don't think that will happen.

 

I cannot overlook the gifts that Ottke received. You won't find those types of blemishes on Calzaghe's record.

 

Exactly, and Calzaghe totally outclassed or obliterated a few common opponents at that and has beaten better fighters than the ones Ottke faced.

Adding an assumed win over Kessler just sets him further away from that fraud, not by 'an edge', more like a mile. Even on paper, Calzaghe's resume is better.
